The Normandy is much more interesting. Bunch of extra reminders from Kelly and EDI on various topics, including a couple remnants from when Kasumi and Zaeed weren't DLC, a bit more of Joker being his usual self, and a completely different version of EDI's lab tour speech, plus leftovers of a system for making us deal with drive core charge (good riddance, I say):

@ Doctalen. They were always planned in one way or another, that is why there were two empty rooms on the Normandy. I think BioWare put Zaeed and Kasumi as DLC to finish after the main game in order to stop them from being cut content. So either these were hooks left in or remnants of a earlier time when they were not yet decided as DLC. So it's not like you were paying for material hidden on the disc. Even Zaeed, who came out at launch, was not finished when the discs were printed since they needed the extra month or two they set aside for him as him DLC since that was the deal that justified his creation costs.

True, At least Zaeed was part of The CNHBC Dresden wrote...
Been waiting for these! Kind of a shame with some of those SR-2 lines like the "rushed" Mordin one and Joker's lines. Thanks again.

Zaeed and Kasumi both had their missions extensively re-written from the versions found in ME2's TLK file, which probably had something to do with it. The "first draft" of Kasumi's is essentially entirely unrelated to what we eventually got (it would have tied into those news stories about her on Ilium and was a "stick it to the evil corporation" kind of thing). Zaeed's still had the same premise (kill Vido), and a refinery was still involved, but most of the specifics ended up different.
By the time ME2 released, all that they kept in the game (besides these files) were their combat soundsets, their on-mission/point-of-interest comments, Kelly's assessments (e.g., "That Kasumi is an interesting...") and placeholder versions that could be added to the squad (which people did with Kasumi, though she apparently only worked on the Suicide Mission. Not aware of anyone trying that with Zaeed, given he was ready by day one, but it'd be interesting to see. In Kasumi's case at least, her powers weren't fully functional, so I imagine pseudo-Zaeed would be similarly handicapped).

Element zero FTL drives accumulate a static electrical charge when a vessel has been in FTL flight for some time. This charge steadily increases with the amount of time a vessel spends in FTL. Eventually, it must be discharged. The safe method involves discharging into a planet's magnetic field (for large ships, incapable of planetary landings) or actual surface contact (in the case of smaller vessels). Space stations and similar structures which are not located near planets are usually equipped with their own discharging facilities; the Citadel has dozens of these.
If the drive charge cannot be discharged, it will eventually accumulate to the point at which it discharges into the ship's hull. The heat will fry everything inside; fusing the bulkheads, destroying the electronics and killing all the crew members.
Taken from here: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/FTL , which is taken from the codex.

Maybe drive charge was initial version of something what happens while Normandy flying - like ME1 weapon overheat system - and it was replaced with fuel system like overheat was replaced with thermal clips?
No, starships still have to do both. Remember during the SM when Jacob talks about the drive core charge levels going critical? Luckily, they only made us deal with buying fuel.

Thanks! Always fascinating to know the little details & behind the scenes stuff because it sheds a candid light on their production process.
