Without offending you or any fandom ... isn't that particular "hate" that seems to define some fandoms?
Besides that, I nearly never received the pointy end of the stick by "Talimancers" just for supporting my fave LI.

I think she really likes Shepard. Too bad BW never implemented some mails of her to make things more visible.

Whatever. I like her and want to see her as potential LI as well. She's beautiful and an interesting character :innocent:

I love the Idea of having civilian Love Intrest's it's a cool concept also I am really happy we have this many LI's in Mass Effect 3 I was afraid they would pull a Dragon Age 2 making everyone romanceable by both Sex's I am glad they have individual sex Specific option's.

Also please Bioware make the Romance's better Controlled because I don't want any Anders/Zevran Ninja-mances with my Shepard let me Instigate the Romance with whomever I chose.

If fictional characters provoke strong emotions, the writers must have done something good.

Although I don't like "hate" against my fave character, it's still better than "meh, don't even recognize that one".

The funny question is that one:

Can you imagine someone who loves the VS but also likes Tali and Liara? Sure, Liara is more down the list of "liked characters" but still not yet on the "meh list" and certainly not on the "hate list".

I don't think liking one specific characters also forces you to hate another one. If you ask me, the only characters who're quite complementary are Liara and the VS (love interest) or Kaidan and Ashley (Virmire decision). However, VS fans seem to get along quite well with each other and Liara fans.

I just prefer to respect that others have different and equally valid character preferences. It doesn't mean character A is better than character B. Both are interesting and well-written enough to draw loyal followers. I honestly don't hate any of the characters.

I don't hate any of them either.... I mean for sure, it's OK to discuss a character's flaws. That can lead to healthy debate BUT there is nothing healthy about hating a fictional character. Hate is a very strong emotion and an emotion that is wasted on things that aren't real, heck, it's wasted on things that ARE real, it is a wasted emotion full stop... Hate is an actual pyhsical revulsion... It's not right to be that wound up IRL over someone/thing in a game... that's just........... silly....

'waves hand' I actually quite like Tali. Especially her pragmatic version which happens in ME1 when she's taken in party with Kaidan or Liara.

My feelings towards to Liara was stated enough for now, I don't feel like repeating.
