None of it really matters to me since im pretty indifferent about romances in video games.
But I've seen arguements and people getting offended over phrases like..

" It wouldnt make sense if Ash and Kaidan turned bisexual, keep them straight "
" Keep same sex romances out of Mass Effect 3 "
" I want a gay/lebian romance option in Mass Effect 3 "

Now whether if you are for it or not ive seen people feel the need to get into a heated discusion on whether they support or not support Bioware's decision to implement gay/lesbian/bisexual romance in the games

If you are against it, you are labled sexist, homophobic, or a troll..Even if you defend it logically. I've seen it. Whats the deal with that? why does a characters sexual preference matter so much to you in a video game?

Also, does this arguement make since to you?

Any previous romance options wouldnt make sense because it would look like a retcon? im pretty confused about that arguement

-_-

If a guy is a ****** and loves a game that has a romance.. he'll want a ****** love interest
If a girl is a lesbian and loves a game that has a romance.. she'll want a lesbian love interest

In regards to bisexuality.. i guess its fantasy with certain characters like Ash, Tali, Kaidan, etc . People want to see these characters with the same sex..

I think the arguements is silly too. I romance characters but ive never takened them that seriously

There is nothing wrong with wanting these options in games.
There is nothing wrong with not wanting these options in games.

actually that's false. I have plentyof BSN friends who are not in favor of S/S romance being involved with certan character and I respect it. It's when you start being an **** about it and telling people the way tey play their games are wrong. That's when you are labeled a troll, sexist, and homophobic. For example: I want there to be Same sex, but the one character I can't see that with is Jacob. I do't know why, I just don't. I am in favor of Ashley, Kaidan, Miranda, and Tali being S/S romances though.Image IPB

Its not falst. ive seen some people say. I dont want s/s romance option with *insert name here* and they were immediately called a troll. I cant see it with jacob either. With Ash and Kaidan it seems a little retconned but ehh whatever float your boat. i wanna know why people place so much emphasis on them

Jack has done both but prefers men. I'm glad for it, nice to see a character buck the stereotype.

I personally won't care if they made all LI options bi. In my head, they are all straight until proven otherwise (I do have a closet-Shepard ready to go though).

its too late to throw in a same sex relationship, unless it is with (spoiler squadmate) or vega, do you think garrus will magically turn gay for you ?

D3mon is the only one who answered my question properly. But i still dont fully understand why so much emphasis is placed on them in a video game.

My only complaint is that playing fast and loose with sexuality is a mistake from a writing standpoint. It also deprives the writers of actually discussing/commenting on the issue in favor of giving everyone options.

What's there to discuss? People who want s/s romances want it because they like s/s romances or they have nothing against s/s romances. People who don't want s/s romances don't want it because they don't like s/s romances. That's the answer to your question.

Shouldn't you be making threads how much of a mistake it is that every female squaqamate except for Kasumi is into ManShep and how all these women totally don't mind when ManShep punches other women for no reason?

How about we get rid of romances all together. I view shepard as having no love life. Whether he is straight or gay - no one knows. It's a mystery. He's just too professional to do any fraternizing in the workplace or battlefield.

Otherwise, just include them all. Makes it simple.

Again, D3mon answered that question. You basically reworded what he said.

There are three camps on the topic.

-People who are homophobic or think it's immoral to love the same same sex. I dismiss this idea altogether.

-People who think that providing the option is the most important thing. I empathize with this stance, but disagree with it.

-People who believe sexuality is interwoven into one's character, and should be treated as lore, that is: Ashley doesn't go from straight to gay just so women gamers get to have sex with her. There needs to be a substantial reason for it. This is where I'm coming from.

So if your best friend came out of the closet, would that ruin his character integrity?

Of course not. We're talkng about a construct here, a story. And whether you like it or not, that means certain creative rules must be kept in mind for the construct to work.

Yeah im kind of here too. If any of the previous LI's are magically bisexual all of a sudden its only because the'yre trying to please bisexuals, homos and lesbians.

Nobody's talking about having Ash go from straight to gay. You do know what bi means right? Plus, you can't point to any moment where she declares she's not interested in women or turns FemShep down. Conclusion: You don't know if she's straight or bi. But you sure really want her to be just straight.
