So I picked the bloody dragon wallpaper. However it felt a bit empty and imbalanced with all the details on the right. The website however seemed to have more nice art, anxiously waiting to be used in a greater good (that being my not so great desktop). A furiously fightning guy along with a zombie of sorts seemed suitable to balance the desktop and found their way to the left side.
The desktop still seemed a bit empty. Only a couple of objects and the great whiteness screaming to be dimmed. At least my eyes were screaming for mercy. Off I go to find more static on the screen, something big this time. The shield with an emblem appeared to be a sufficient fill for the background. At first it was just supposed to be blended into the background, to break up the great empty whiteness.
It was beginning to look like something, but the overall contrast was awfully bland. Simply getting rid of the great whiteness didn't seem to be enough, the shield seemed to dominate the screen too much and the two other objects appeared rather out of the place. All the sudden it made perfect sense to shift the shield a bit to align the blood with the dragon and blend the two into one entity.
As a little coup de grace the engravings required a bit more contrast to make the shield more fancy looking.
The overall result was something that made it more balanced all around on my desktop and the objects blended well together. A furious battle reflecting all the blood on the shield, characters in the blood representing the sorrows of a battle..
This is what came out of it, reduced to something more web friendly size:

..and it's still a long day ahead of me; my birthday actually. Now if I would just get a dripping effect for Photoshop...
