Seriously, I doubt the son could be any more crazy than the father in this case.

Maybe he'll branch out and decide to open North Korea to the world, maybe he'll isolate it further, maybe he'll declare war for his father.  Too many unknowns, it's scary.

He may choose the China's Path and it shall be a good decision. Then the North and South can compete eachother ...
Unification of Korea is the best choice, but it takes many years for preparations.

Kim Jung il's son is obviously going to get used by the country's communist party. I dont see the guy making any real decisions on his own. at best he'll be a puppet.

Anybody ever read Larry Bond's Red Phoenix? As a worst case scenario I can imagine something like that happening. The South Koreans have gained a significant edge quality-wise since the '80s, but now the North has nukes. There is certainly potential for improvement, but also potential for disaster. I'm going to bet on the current status-quo for the time being however.

We have no idea of Kim brainwashed his son. Heard Kim's sister is a psychopath herself.

I really don't think the people of North Korea want 'freedom' or democracy.

No one knows what the people of North Korea want because their government keeps them isolated from the rest of the world. I suspect though that they'd all like to live happy lives without the threat of starvation or being locked away in Gulags for daring to complain about 'Dear Leader's' inability to keep food on their tables.

Of course, any change he'd hypothetically want from the current status quo will simply result in his father's top men overruling it. It's possible we're going to see some changes, maybe in the amount of media being recieved by the people and the like. I doubt we're going to see North Korea open it's doors anytime soon, though it's possible the son will put in a few cracks or reinforce the door.

That is probably a good outcome.

Ugh, the one time I actually go and game like I did in the old days (10 hour streak so far) and something of caliber happens. Wonder how this is going to affect the stability of the region, although it's unlikely that much will change.

Interesting how that Homefront game turned out to be right on the money, though. I'm curious as to whether THQ will use this opportunity to start a new marketing campaign and possibly even re-release their game.

If you have a symptom or symptoms of a serious disease, you do not leave it to progress, you go to the Hospital to remove it. North Korea is a threat and will always be a threat, nuke it. NK has always been hostile and have made it more than clear they will go to war with anyone with even the simplest excuse. They threaten world peace. NK shelled SK then made threats of war if there was any retaliation! Nuke the bastards, better a few million casualties than than a few billion casualties from a war with them.

This right here.  Its a huge misconception that North Korea is full of crazy militiants just looking for an excuse to push the nuke the planet at any moment.

2 on this list will hopefully shed some light here

What the mafia ruling North Korea wants most of all is to remain in power, they know they can't do that if they start an all out war.

Please know what your talking about before you run your mouth.

North Korea is the little kid with a pistol who doesn't know how to turn the safety off.
They run their mouth knowing that their military budget is nothing to brag about.
Read the part 2 in my link its a joke site but its very real.

Here I'll quote my favorite part from it.

"Imagine North Korea as Wile E. Coyote, and the rest of the world as the Road Runner. The Coyote may be able to afford a giant ACME anvil, but he doesn't know how to accurately drop it on the Road Runner -- he'll miss, and maybe even hurt himself in the process. North Korea's nuclear program is like that, except if the Coyote got lucky and somehow scored a hit, the Road Runner would turn around and obliterate him

Again, the media's version of events relies on the very specific appeal to reason that assumes because a country could do something, they might actually do it. For instance, President Obama could text a picture of his junk to The New York Times right now. He has the technological capacity to do it. Nevertheless, we can say with one hundred percent certainty that he won't do that because it would be suicidal.

That's why experts agree that North Korea isn't going to start a war, nuclear or conventional. It knows that if it did that, step two would be getting quickly turned into the world's largest parking lot. So instead, it's going to sit around and lob ridiculous threats at the West like the YouTube commenters of the international community. And our media is going to read them to us on the nightly news."

Rockworm, I really don't know how much of a threat NK is but the world can't let their guard down. NK is ran by trigger happy muppets while populated with the brainwashed. I'm not trying to be a doom and gloom guy but I would prefer if anyone didn't view NK as a joke.

Let's celebrate!

Cause there's gonna be a power struggle in North Korea now and South Korea might have a chance to unite both countries.

Hope his death was very painful. And I truly hope hell is real, because he needs to rot in it for eternity.

This will make a difference. Not immediately, not huge, but it does matter a lot. It is obvious the his son won't have as much power and influence as he did, the party and the ruling family clan will have a lot more to say. This may be a chance for pragmatism to step in and perhaps they will continue and even accelerate opening up, even if only for China.

Even if SK managed to take over, the unification wouldn't happen for the next 50 years or so. NK is an economical ruin. The gap between the two Koreas is incomprehensibly bigger than it was between East and West Germany, and how many problems and how hard that unification was? It will take decades for unification.

Yeah and thats exactly what I'm saying is that they are NOT a threat.
I treat jokes as such a joke.
Do you take death threats from random youtube posters this seriously?  Because that article I posted is all about that!  How much more can I tell you?
Yes North Korea have nuclear missles.
No they don't have the capacity to fire them.
Yes North Korea are well aware that any attack will destroy them.
One thing to point out is that their target would be South Korea and they'd destroy them in retalation long before we even talk about it.
Seriously lighten up you say you don't want to be the doom and gloom guy but thats exactly what you're being.
