I'm a cautious person. I doubt a youtube user has maybe the possibility to turn me into a shadow on the wall. I just think we should keep watch that's all.

If anyone is actually interested in North Korea, I've found this guy to be one of the more informed people on the country. His book makes the argument, quite convincingly, that North Korea is not a failed communist state, but a somewhat successful ultra-nationalist state and why it can't ever open up like China.

On the other hand if you just want lulz...

Well, that's a shame. He was an inspiration to me in my plans for becoming an absolute ruler.

The world isn't any safer because of his death. Someone will replace him.

Cause there's gonna be a power struggle in North Korea now and South Korea might have a chance to unite both countries.

Even if SK managed to take over, the unification wouldn't happen for the next 50 years or so. NK is an economical ruin. The gap between the two Koreas is incomprehensibly bigger than it was between East and West Germany, and how many problems and how hard that unification was? It will take decades for unification.

50 years is better then never.

His Son is actully known as a reformer, questions the rulling parties advantage over the common people and favors limited Free Market much like China. So his take over may be great for the people of North Korea. Also is known for his humanitarian stance and favorable positions to economic reform.

On the other hand he's also a militarian, and supported by the DPRK's Army. And favors unification of Korea by force. Is generally a hardliner, and wishes to see a strong united Communist Korea, free of the US. He also has the loyality of the party, and some popular support as he knows how to "Play the game" so to speak.

In short we may get the events of a few games to happen :P More powerful and assertive North Korea, thats finally not the "Poor Man of Asia", but also the likelyhood of conflict rises dramatically.

Also before some of you go "YAY the crazy midget is dead" If you bother looking at reports on North Korea and personal opinions, he was basically the only thing keeping the North Korean Generals in line. What path the son will fallow will be neat to see from a point of view.

And there will be no "Power struggles" China won't allow American forces on its border, nor will Russia, and North Korea still has its military forces in position to turn Seoul into a "sea of fire" plus much of the other population centers. South Korea is on the Alert as two reasons.

If Kims Death wasn't of old age, judgement will be called on it being the US or South Korea.

2, what I stated on the Son, though I hazard he will do his reforms well before a take over.

There's gonna be a power struggle between ruling family and their loyalist with NK military leaders.

Wrong, the chosen Son enjoys close ties with the military and the Party.

Fun Fact: North Korean media has never introduced Kim Jong-un as Kim Jong Il's son. There is a theory that they may write his official biography so that he's Kim Il Sung's son (which would make him Kim Jong Il's younger half-brother) as a way of boosting his legitimacy.

As someone who has lived extensively on the Korean peninsula, I can safely say that this is probably not the best thing for S.Korea. Mr. Il was not the nicest man but an unstable N.Korea is bad for S.Korea, especially considering I will likely be going back there next year.

But he's not Jong Il. It will take time for him to achieve the same degree of authority within the military and the family.

Unlikely, he was nominated as Kim Jong Il's successor over a year ago. It will depend on whether his later action continue to be insular or not which may lead to disquiet in the party and instability.

Depends, really, may take time might not. The reports were never clear on who in the Army is on his side, though most of the central congress is. But it is known within the DPRK he spent time around members of the General Staff, and the Party. In fact given his fathers recent antics (plus how soon he was named for the spot), I wouldn't be surprised if he had him killed so he could take over.

The other Sons are all failures, one wants out of North Korea, the other was shut off to some remote ****** hole. And if the son really is a reformist and a hardliner...I'll leave it like this

If Mao and Stalin wanted things done, did they ever think twice of shooting or arresting who was in the way? Or using popular support and reform to turn the people into a privtate army?

Reguardless this new blood may lead to changes along the region, and not in the favor of anyone short of its self and the two giants to the north.

I'll back it as long as we don't create a secret vault that will be featured in the plot of a awful Fallout game which will practially ruin the developers when F3 could have been released.

You don't know how much can be done In 10 years? South Korea won't be alone in enhancing the substructures of North. In 50 years North Korea will be better than West Germany!
