Cullen, because I think it would be interesting to see his reactions to the goings-on of the mage-templar war given his background with both mages and templars. Also, because I am a fangirl.

Charade, because she's Hawke's cousin, can handle a bow well, and she might have some insight as to the whereabouts of Hawke/the Warden, if the Warden is with Hawke. (which I presume s/he is)

Feynriel, because, having lived both in Kirkwall, in the alienage and under the brutal regime of the templars, and in the Tevinter Imperium, where mages rule, he would have some interesting perspectives on the war. Also, he's a dreamer, which would give us (the players) some new and interesting powers and dialogue options, perhaps new missions involving his powers.

I'd also like to see Bodahn and Sandal, Wade and Herren back. (traveling with us?)

And the rest, new characters.

However, cameos of other characters (former companions-- friends, LIs, etc --, the Warden and Hawke) would be appreciated.

I personally would like to see the return of Anders, Isabela, Varric, Carver or Bethany and most likely Ogren or Ogrend or whatever his name is, I forgot. Warden or Hawke as a companion would be good but that's highly unlikely. If you play as Hawke again, I hope Isabela is back because I romanced and tapped her ass 5 times!

I agree! Cullen is a good character. In Dragon Age Origins he was a coward, then in DA2 he was the mighty Templar Knight-Captain but later on in DA2, he showed his true side to judge the order. I agree with you completly though!

Cullen might be a good companion, but I doubt he's gonna leave Kirkwall. After what happened in DA2, he won't be available to leave, would he? Besides, wouldn't he just be another Alistair only less funny?

I just know I don't want to see Anders or Sebastian again. They got on my every nerve AND Anders was more or less non-negotiable as a companion unless your own character was a mage who could heal. As for people we couldn't have as a companion before; my first vote is Cullen. Yes, I'm a fangirl but I do think his leaving Kirkwall is very doable.For some reason, I also love the idea of Varric being in any party Cullen is in.

Varric: "Don't get your skirt all twisted, tin man."
Cullen: "I suppose I'm to be offended by that remark?"
Varric: "If the robe fits..."
Cullen: "If I wore trousers like everyone else, what would you hide behind when bandits attack?"
Varric: *chuckles* "You call it 'hiding', I call it 'covering your overgrown blind spot'."

Seeing Feynriel again would be neat.Charade too. I find myself curious what happened to Jowan's love, Lily. I think if she escaped and stumbled into the new protagonist, that she'd be interesting. And maybe an older Connor, Eamon's boy, could become relevant to the story since he is a mage and there's a war going on.

Given what was going on at the end of DA2, I think it would be good to see Lelliana and/or Cassandra again. Or both.There are some other cameos I wouldn't mind but I'll stop here.

Id like to see a return of Anders from Awakening, and of course Oghren. Gotta love that drunken dwarf.

Mostly new characters would be nice, but at least 3 for every class and no companion specific specializations line in DA2. Also werewolf and darkspawn companions would be pretty great.

A half Qunari half Human dude with normal black hair, pale skin, horns, black body tattoos, and purple eyes that dual weilds or has a bow. That would be awesome. An ex-paragon Dwarf with a huge axe or war hammer. An Orlesian chavalier. A dwarf rogue from Kal Sharok. A Mabari in which you can choose if its white, black, brown, etc. A Dalish Elf mage from that place in Rivain where humans and elves lived together, who has been posessed before but found a way to be un-posessed, who is also a "dreamer". This would be GREAT

I would like to see "evil" companions. not scoundrels or rebels but evil and cruel ones. Like Edwin, Viconia, Bishop, One-of-Many.
Like tevinter magister, blood mages, assassins, murderers, black knights and most of all - Demons.
Dragon Age is way too nice for "dark fantasy" game.
P.S. Also, no previous ones, past is past.

Because there's a war going on and as the main character you get to choose either sides.

And based on your decision you're getting a team of Mages or Templars only.

I´d like to see a male Dalish companion for a change, a hunter with a down-to-earth personality who´s more pragmatic than idealistic. Would be a nice change after two female mages with... very extreme viewpoints.

If the game is set chronologically before DA:O, it would be great to have Duncan as a temporary companion.
Or Adaia (hope I got  the name right), the city elf´s mother.

Feynriel, Cassandra, Tallis, Velanna (Even her death is kind of left open, a wall falls on her but they never find a body, which makes me think that they may bring her back), Morrigan's son, Eleni Zinovia (the spirit of the Tevinter prophetess sealed in the circle statue, confirmed to be appearing at a later point), Cullen, a new female Qunari character, Maraas (The honorable Tal-Vashoth), Charade, and Connor. I'd like to see any of these, either as cameos or companions, and more of Flemeth. I really love her!

Also, I don't really want anymore cameos from our old comapnions. It's time to move on and let go, and I really do not want to see someone like Tallis in DA3. Bioware should keep fanfiction out of their games.

They should let the player's head canon stand and create new people to adventure with.
