10 years. Not enough for godchild to be acceptable candidate for party member, so, I vote for new bunch of companions. DA2 got only shallow ones.

Who says DA3 will pick up immediately after DA2?  It could well start 20 years after the epilogue of DA2 for all we know (which would make the 'godchild' about 30).

 how about this? nothing too specific more like a general concept of it:

a mage of the horned grey giants commonly known as qunari (even though it's not the name of the race)

born out of the Qun, the parents were Talvashoth and both died at the hands of the qunari but not before they hid their child.
the baby was then found by human farmers who then raised them as their own. until he/she is found by the chantry and taken into the circle as this would be a rare opportunity to have a member of the opposing race working for the chantry and serve as sort of spy.


or an old chevalier, a mentor type character kinda like duncan but also a bit like aveline.
also i'd like that this mentor character could be a happily married man and with children, it seems plain but as far as rpg video games characters go these types are actually quite rare.

 I would like to control the Warden and Hawke simultaniously in different places but in same time like first the warden and then when i finish my mission Hawke.
For companinons i would like to have:
Alistair (if you put him on the throne with Anora),
Isabela (if i romanced her),
Anders (if you havent killed him and if you killed Meredith),
A darkspawn mage as a companion (if you havent killed the Arhitech),
Varric,
Tallis (if you helped her in Chatou de Haine),
Nyree from Dragon Age Redemption,
Cassandra Penthaghast (from Dragon Age 2),
Morrigan (as the wife of the Warden comander),
Vallena for Dragon Age Awakening (if you havent killed her),
Bethany or Carver (if they survived the Darkspawn taint and became grey Wadens),
Leliana,
Nathaniel Howe (if you recruited him as a grey Warden in Dragon Age Awakening and if you became with him friends).

I don´t want to see old companions from DAO and DA2 again - I like them well enough, but I prefer new companions and only some cameos of old ones.
The only exception being Cullen - I think he is pretty interesting, so I´d like him te be a companion.

I agree, I´d love to see a character like this. The only objection I have is against "happily married" - it would be more interesting if during the game he finds out that his wife is cheating on him, for example (like Keenans wife in Awakening).
A companion needs a personal tragedy/agenda.

Furthermore I´d like to see a Dalish elf who is NOT a mage but a hunter... maybe even male, for a change.
I am very fond of Arianne in Witch Hunt and would like to see a fully fledged out companion with that principle. Maybe more serious than she is.

I also think it would be interesting to have an option of more than one story line again. Liek playing a seeker or warden or champion. I liked the multiple story lines from DAO and teh romance.

I really hope you´re wrong about Leliana... I don´t dislike characters easily, and I was fine with her during Origins - she wasn´t my favourite but  still nice to talk to - but now that she´s showing up everywhere she´s seriously getting on my nerves.
She has her own DLC, completely unrelated to the Wardens story (as opposed to Witch Hunt), she´s in DA2, She´s in a DA2 DLC, she´s in Asunder... urgh.
I pray she´s not showing up in DA3, especially as a companion.

Likely companions

1. Leliana: Bioware seems to love Leliana since she has her own DLC, they revived her if the Warden killed her in Origins, her constant cameos in DA2, and her appearance Asunder.

2. Cassandra: I would be surprised if she wasn't a companion. She seemed to have a large role in DA2 and would fit perfectly into the Mage/Templar war.

3. A Tal-Vashoth: I can see them doing it.

4. Cullen: He seems to be a popular choice and has an interesting story.

5. I'm going to guess another mage character. Either an elf or human.

6; A dwarf warrior: Maybe Oghren.

Unlikely companions.

Anders: Seeing how he started the Mage/templar war and is probably one of the most hated people in Thedas. A mass murderer wouldn't be a very appetizing companion either.

 1.Alistair: Way too many ending for him to become a companion again.

2. Morrigan: As a major character, yes. As companion, no.

3: A Darkspawn companion. Judging on how any non-Grey Warden that has long term contact with them becomes corrupted, unlikely.

4: Jowan: I just can't picture him as a companion.

5.Zeveran/Isabela: I feel like they're more likely to make cameos then become companions

Honestly... none of those who were in previous DA games. I'll be happy to see some of them in DA3 but not as companions. I want new companions
