OK, I like being prepared. I'm trying to finish the game with each LI, at least once.  Not only because I love the game, but I also want to have multiple games to import to DA3. I have three so far:

Male mage/Anders-pro mage
Female rouge/Fenris-pro templar
Male warrior/Anders-pro mage

I'm currently in Act 3 (doing Legacy) with a female warrior and Sebastian. Will be pro-Templar.
What I'm thinking about is combo's for Merrill and Isabella. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome. Also, does it make a big difference if you rivelmance or friendmance?

a rivalmance with fenris is pretty hot. Almost started one. Almost rivalmanced anders in one to. He said he either wanted to kill me or kiss me.....It was tense.

I'm doing the same thing. I currently have five characters. All ladies.
Femmage + Anders promage
Femrouge + Isabella no side
Fembloodmage + merrill or Fenris (fenris to be really mean as it's my completly corrupt playthrough)
Femwarrior + Fenris pro templar kinda
Femrouge + Seb

Glad I'm not the only one doing this! I may have to try a rivelmance with Fenris, sounds interesting. I've never thought about not picking sides, it would make sense with Isabella. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I want to experience all of the relationships eventually. I've done both Friendmanced!Anders and Rivalmanced!Merrill so far, and I really enjoyed both (particularly Merrill's). I'm going veeeery slowly, though, because I have a huge backlog of games and I tend to play games really slow in general.

I just finished a M!Rogue friendship romance with Anders; Hawke was indifferent to mages and didn't get on with Bethany well. But he slowly came to support the mages for his boyfriend's sake.

I've also started a F!Warrior friendship romance with Merrill; Hawke knows diddly about magic and doesn't think there's anything wrong with it b/c her sis and dad were mages. So she'll be completely supportive of mages and even of Merrill's use of blood magic.

And I have a (barely even begun) F!Rogue friendship romance with Isabela ... pretty sure it will be an indifferent to mage v. templar situation again.

My previous playthroughs were all Fenris friendship romances. My rogues weren't super pro-mage but weren't into oppression and slavery. My mages, of course, were pro-mage all the way.

I can't handle rival romances xD

Call me crazy, but I didn't want to trudge through multiple playthroughs just to see the different romance options. With DAO, I didn't mind it since there were multiple endings and origins, but I just YouTube'd the romances I didn't experience for DA2.

ooo!  How is the rivalmance merrill?  I had her as a rival in one playthrough but not as a LI.  I felt like a real big jerk.  Never thought I would feel sorry about a blood mage.

I rivalrymanced Merrill and thought it worked out pretty well. Being a romance gives you a lot of dialogue options where Hawke can be nice to her despite their differences. it does depend a little on which ones you chose though.

I've rivalmanced her deliberately once, and then she ninjamanced me twice in Rivalry.  I much prefer it to her friendmance, though the friendmance is sweeter, I think she grows more in a rivalry.

I've done Friendmance of Isabella twice, (diplomatic M!Mage, Sarcastic F!Rogue), tried her rivalmance but it didn't fit my Sarcastic MRogue and I deleted that game in the middle of act 2, Fenris friendmanced twice on Diplomatic FMage, Merrill, friendmanced once (Sarcastic M!warrior) then rivalmanced 3 times (Diplomatic MWarrior, Agressive MMage, and Sarcastic FMage) 
My very first game, I failed to pick up Fenris in Act 1 so I went ahead and romanced Sebastian.  Of them all i like his the least because you get either a chaste marriage or one where he doesn't seem to like you much (political) but friendmance has some cute flirt scenes (and he's 'safe' to flirt with as it doesn't screw up your other romance, he just calls a stop to it before it goes too far, and gives him a sweet kind of "I wish" moment in the Gallows at the end of the game), and there's a cute banter with Bethany/Carver and him in Legacy after you finish the lines in Act 3.  Rivalry just pissed me off when Bethany flirted with him, and I deleted the game.  Plus you don't get a 'after mom dies' comfort scene with him like the other romances.  Which from a story logic point was kind of a WTF moment for me.  I would think he of all the companions would try to comfort you with Maker talk after that (if you weren't romancing anyone else or were in a romance with him), if you were friending him.
Of the romances, I've sided templars twice, Once on my sarcastic MWarrior in the romance with Merrill and once on my MMage romancing Isabella.  Too much crazy on Meredith's part for me to be interested in supporting her agenda.  It was just a "How do the scenes with Circle Sibling go..." curiousity.

For Merrill I recommend going Male Hawke of any class, though I like mage. I also think you should go pro-mage and Friendmance Merrill.

I'm trying to wade through Act 3 with my F!Hawke warrior and Sebastian. He is kinda boring to romance. So, I got bored and made a F!Hawke Mage for Isabella. I'm going to try and stay as neutral as possible with her. I'm pretending politic's gives her a headache. I know it does me. And yeah, when I get around to romancing Merrill, I was going to use a M!Hawke. She's going to have him wrapped around her finger:)

lol that's kind of how it went with mine too.  Esp the two who were 'ninjamanced' by her.

Thought I'd just point out that you don't have to be pro-templar to romance Sebastian and that when I had him as just a friend to my sarcastic rogue Hawke and supported the mages at the end, I got a very interesting dialogue to justify our siding with the mages when talking with Sebastian, involving a torch waving Andraste.

Well, i have a femHawke/Fenris and a femHawke/Anders plus two MaleHawke/Isabela playthroughs stored away, the rest is femHawke/Merrill with different classes and personalities.
They are all friendship except for one Isabela and one Merrill.

Gervaise, for some reason I thought you HAD to side with the Templar's to get Seb. Thanks for letting me know. Just made a M!Hawke archer for Merrill. Now I get to juggle 3 characters! More fun
