Is it just me or did the music remind anyone of the "Lord of the Rings" music from all three movies. Because when I listened to it I immediately thought of "Lord of the Rings" movies.

My favorite is still the Mass Effect 1 soundtrack! Amazing homage to the likes of Blade Runner and 70's Sci Fi films which Bioware used to draw inspiration from... Now it's just war, war, war, which isn't as aesthetically interesting.

What happened to Jack Wall? Did he get fired or something?

All my ME/2 mp3's are under Jack Wall, what happened to him?

Loved Lennertz's work on the DLCs, especially on Overlord where his tone set that whole experience for me.

The song Object Rho (I think it's called that? Found it on youtube...) from Arrival may be my favorite of the series, is there an official release of it? The one with Reaper like noises echoing in the background as you begin your epic escape.

I still get goosebumps when I listen to Spectre Induction. I saved the council solely for that moment. In my opinion, it was perfect. The music, their speech. It was just powerful.

Hello all!

We want to share the official list of the talented team of composers  who will play critical roles in Mass Effect 3's musical development, with direction led by BioWare’s acclaimed audio team. The roster of composers for Mass Effect 3 includes:

Clint Mansell, Golden Globe nominated Hollywood composer recognized for scoring celebrated films including Black Swan, The Wrestler and Requiem for a Dream.

Christopher Lennertz
, Emmy nominated Hollywood composer known for his work on the recent movie Horrible Bosses, also composed Mass Effect 2: Overlord, Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker, and won the Interactive Academy Award for Medal of Honor.

Cris Velasco, known for composing the God of War series’ score, has also worked on downloadable content Mass Effect 2: Kasumi and Mass Effect 2: Arrival.

Sam Hulick, veteran to the Mass Effect series having composed the score for Mass Effect, Mass Effect: Bring Down the Sky and Mass Effect 2.

Sascha Dikiciyan, video game industry veteran, known for composing the score for TRON: Evolution and the scores of Mass Effect 2: Kasumi and Mass Effect 2: Arrival.

“The magic of BioWare games has always been the emotional power of the story, so music is extremely important to the experience,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “With Mass Effect 3, we’re taking players on a more personal journey, even though the scope is bigger than ever – an all-out galactic war! Each composer has played an intricate role in delivering the combination of epic scope and delicate emotion that will make Mass Effect 3 the best game in the series.”

You can download a music teaser here!  (This particular contribution is by Sam)

I should go. Image IPB

That's a pretty nice sample. Looking forward to hearing more in ME3!

The sample seems to sound like the "victory theme" of the end of Mass Effect, with a bit of classic ME theme at the end. Can't wait!

There has been no news on an official release, besides the soundtrack in the CE. My question is: Sometimes, the Official soundtrack is different than the CE's soundtrack. Will that be the same here?

Also, CD release please!! :D

I haven't read the thread, just commenting:

I was extremely impressed just to see Clint Mansell, imo the best composer in film. With that entire crew now, wow. Even more wow. I expect my heartstrings to be played like a harp. :-)

That sample was awesome!

I have a feeling it has to do with the end of the game though, my ears are spoiled. xS

Since my question is related to the music, I figure this makes sense here:

Is the soundtrack included in the Collector's Edition of the game, is there every track? Or is it like, say, the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Augmented Edition, where they only had some tracks?

I think it's all tracks, seeing as how it's called "Exclusive Extended Soundtrack". Atleast more tracks than the normal soundtrack, apparently.

And by the way, it's so awesome Sam Hulick is on this.

I've loved the scores of the previous two games (and the dlc scores - even though they were horribly over-priced on Itunes UK). Can't wait to hear the rest of the score (and get the OST), Mansell is my favorite contemporary film composer (esp. The Fountain), right up there with Morricone for me overall.

It's less of the "Out there in Space, Fighting Alien Mercanaries." And more of a "You're not in space anymore, you're on Earth and everyone is in danger." I like it. Very fitting in my opinion.

I just hope we get a proper multi-disc CD release of the score. And finally the same for ME2.

I've always been impressed with the sound design in bioware games. The only other studio that does sound well is DICE in their battlefield series. I value sound design heads and shoulders above graphic quality...That said, in comparison to ME2, the quality seems a little off? Hopefully this is demo related...
