Are you kidding?  The demo alone shows that the sound design is much improved.  Although it does sound in parts as if they borrowed portions of the Transformers film series sound library.  That said, I love that the dynamic range setting defaults to the highest setting.  Everything sounds very nuanced when listening to it on my home theater setup.  And I love how my seat shakes as the battle rages on Earth whilst Anderson and Shepard are making their escape.  In short, the third game sounds like a mega budget movie.

Apparently this was hidden in the demo files.

So I guess Faunts is back doing the end credits track. :o

I hope it's *not* and I doubt it would be. What an overused song. Plus it has nothing to do with Mass Effect.

Shame Bioware didn't also court John Carpenter to compose some tracks for ME3:

While I'm sad that Jack Wall has left the project, Clint Mansell is an AMAZING composer and I wish him the best of luck.

More ME1'ish electronic/techno and less must-be-hollywood orchestra than in ME2 plus DLCs and we would have a very nice score.

I loved the clinical, scifi techno riffs we have in ME1, it blended perfectly in with the setting and the feel the game radiated (and what I expected). ME2 was trying way too hard to be a blockbuster with its music, I reaaally miss the ME1 score when playing it. Just a little les than that and little more of the other, then mix it up for the correct settings/moods that are to be conveyed and I will name my tenth born after the composers (all of them, ... loong name ... if I ever come to have ten children, which I don't plan to, but I promise, sort of ... no guarantees!).

By the Stars~!...! Look at that team! Awesomeness!
Awww come on! The techno is nice and all, but the ochestra is gives it an epic feeling too!  I say both would be great! :)

Absolutely loved the Suicide Mission Track from ME 2. I think the message is clear even if you haven't played the game. "Things are pretty grim, but we have Shepard in charge so there's still hope".

I hope ME3's sound track is just as good.

please no please no please noooo:(

that "lux aeterna" score was OVER-used in 1/10th of youtube videos made by mmorpg addicts and anime fans..
Really, that sound is now nearly ruined! Listening to it reminds me some sort of handmade video by some emo playing japanese mmorpg that show how a badass his character actually is...

sorry but i feel frustrated by it! :P

The music is really good from what I heard on the demo it's a shame Jack Wall wasn't there to do some music he did really well on ME1 and ME2 seems a shame to just let him go. But well done to all who made the music on 3 it's good looking forward to hearing the ost of it.

Agreed. As much as I love the song, I do feel it overused now. Prefer the low version from the actual soundtrack. Still, Mansell is a freaking genius, and we haven't heard everything from him. I just can't imagine what him and the rest of the composers made for the Battle For Earth.

Oh wow, this snippet is incredible...
I love the music in video games, so I can't wait to hear more of this in context.

I'd like to see this:

[It's "Prelude to War" by Bear McCreary from BSG.]

Does anybody know if the soundtrack will be available through iTunes for those who don't get the Collector's/N7/Digital Deluxe Edition? (Note: I have the CE pre-ordered, I'm asking this for a friend.)

As an aspiring composer myself, I have to say the music in the demo and in the previous games has always been awesome. I often listen thoroughly through each composition and try and pick out some instruments. I've noticed the composers have an extensive use of the Ensemble, which I've began incorporating into my own pieces. Mass Effect is a brilliant and unique game. I would love to compose for the company...though I'm not really sure how to get started. But...I'm rambling, so um, I hope ME continues even after ME3. There are only a few games out there that can really capture your attention like ME.

Actually the music is what keeps me playing. The talent and emotion that goes into Mass Effect games, is so totally outstanding. I can't wait to play Mass Effect 3, and hear and see the talents that are present, in the scenes. There aren't the right words to describe the unique talents in the game. Image IPB

Just can't wait to start a new storyline of my Commander Shepard. Not long now. Image IPB

Since the Soundtrack showed up in my registered game content, I downloaded it last night and it's pretty good, I particularly love "Leaving Earth" and "A Future for the Krogan". The finale music and the way it ends with a twist got me curious and I'm eager to complete the game to find out what's going on, I got my idea but that's still to be seen.

Now I am a little bit disappointed, only one theme by Clint Mansell? Really?

Dont let "those" people ruin that song for you like they ruin everything else. That song is epic for a reason! Its perfect for the arrival of the reapers...it really sets the dread of the moment over used or not!

I picked up the CE on the 6th and just recently have been starting to listen to the music at work. Oh my god such quality stuff. I also really like the A Future for Krogan track, reminds me of the Lord of the Rings. Really like how the music is integrated into the game to represent a past memory or already established gaming memory (ex first time seeing Normandy in the game).

Why isn't Jack Wall listed even though the ME1 music features prominently on a lot of missions and places? Feels like a pretty damn big insult to him.

The music in this game is haunting, and beautiful. The selections to accompany emotional moments in the game are just... perfectly done.

Clint Mansell also did that incredible score for "Moon". One of my favourite of all time. Also "The Fountain". I can spot elements of both in the ME3 score. Awesome.
