Following the instructions is probably a big factor in which stories move beyond the submission/abstract phase. I've submitted things to publishers before and they are very adamant about you following the instructions they've laid out... generally submissions that don't follow the directions don't get considered. I've never submitted to BioWare before, but I'd assume this is standard practice.

My plan was simple: evade the templars for as long as I could. Though, I soon found out, it was easier said than done. My mother warned me from the start. She told me that I wouldn’t last long and that I was better off joining the Circle. I didn’t listen, but I didn’t want[/i] to.
I must have lasted a week or more before I realized I couldn’t do it. I collapsed right outside a cave. Unable to move, I stayed on the dusty, cold ground and breathed deeply. “I must..go on..” I huffed out, desperate to continue on the hopes of being free.
I stood. But, I didn’t make it far. Not four feet from where I had just lain, I collapsed again; this time blacking out completely from pure exhaustion.

@ApostateMage17 - this is the wrong thread - the other thread is for abstracts.

Make sure you post in that thread or you will be disqualified.

are we allowed to invent new lore if it's never been talked about in the series before?

I'm currently doing some edits to my work in the hopes of trimming it down to at least 2508 words -- as I'm assuming the title wouldn't count towards going over the limit -- and resubmitting it.

to be more specific, I just have one line that hints at a certain type of creature being present in Thedas, but I'm fairly certain said type of creature has never been discussed in any DA media before.

It's still Jan. 10 in Canada. For a few hours, anyway.

To enter or not to enter?

I am sleepless and went rather wild with the story. But I am not sure whether it is now crap or briiliant, or both.

Man, I had the luckiest writing streak ever! :D

That's counting the title, name and 4 breaks, but still!

Well, I submited mine. Good luck to everyone!

Because one of the Bioware people, Chris I think, said to do it here.  Some did not read past his post and others are hedging their bet due to conflicting orders.

@Russalka:  Send it.  The worst that can happen is you get nothing.  The best is that you can win cool swag and get your story read by David Gaider himself.  You certainly can't go wrong by submitting!  :D

I might lose the last shreds of my dignity. I would miss it once I have had a sufficent amount of sleep.

The night had been horrible. Abominations had shot up everywhere, the Circle was forced to kill many people to contain the chaos. He had saved her, and their love had finally been confessed, but happiness is never certain among templars and mages. The interrogations would begin soon, and templars from the Order in Orlais are there to overlook. Betrayal is inevitable for some.

Unless I'm mistaken, the deadline was 11:59 pm PST on the 10th. It is now 5:10 pm PST on the 10th meaning you still have some 6+ hours to go.

2500 is a strict limit. We won't read it if your story is over.

Remember your abstract MUST be posted in the Abstract thread or you will be disqualified!

Just a friendly reminder so everyone gets a chance. There's still time, so keep it under 2500 and remember to post your abstract in the abstract thread (here).

sent it in. I cut it down to around 2100 words, and I also sent in an epilogue which is comprised of what I had cut out of the original edited version.

The epilogue isn't something that one is required to read, but it sheds insight on one of my two main characters: Auron Crowley.

Wow, there looks to be a lot of great stories out there. Hope mine can stack up to the rest.
I missed up on my previous post on page 7 so I am fixing it here, sorry guys ;) This is my synopsis:
Dark Beginnings...

When the rebellion starrted my closest friends became my reason to fight, but when you throw in love, war and betrayal goals and objectives seem to haze away from view. This is my story on how I came to fight for revenge and how I came about my search for peace and redemption. With my entire reason for revolution extinguished I saught a new path, and this is how I came about beginning that path.

It should be interesting to see how I do on this and I wish the rest of you luck as well.

Bahim, abstracts go in the abstract thread. If it's not posted there, it won't matter that it is posted here (that's how I understand it), so remember to post it there as well!;)

The templar Ser Edward is on
trial for a failed mission and reports of him helping a mage he was supposed to
be hunting, he must prove his innocence to the Knight-Commander's pet dog Anna,
who is out to prove him guilty of helping the mage, or committing some other
crime or treason against the templar order.

Having fun reading everyone's abstracts. :)

Although, now that I look at my work, whatever program I was using to word count for me is apparently inaccurate, and I am 27 words over.

Fantastic. Should probably resubmit it, if that's allowed.

I think you have until 11:59pm PACIFIC time, so if you can crank something out in the next six hours or so, you've still got time.
