I just realized that my title page (author name, address, story title, word count, etc.) put the word count of the entire document over 2,500 words (at 2,527, to be exact), but the story text itself is at exactly 2,500.

What are the chances that the title page overage is going to disqualify me?

I didn't know about the challenge until yesterday, and was rushing to finish and get submitted before midnight. The title page was a last-minute addition and I didn't even THINK to include it in the word count.

I guess it will. 

After reading all the abstracts I guess I won't be winning but it was fun to participate and I would like to stand at least a tiny chance instead of being disqualified. If I don't win, that's alright but being disqualified? That would make me sad.

I wish my English was better.

But alas, my writing skills only go as far as my mother language, and it's hard to expand beyond that. Especially when you have to deal with preset universes and from a specific viewpoint, like in this creative writing contest.

Perhaps next time I will participate in an event such as this one, if there's ever another event like this one. Until then, I'll keep on working on my skills.

I'm almost positive you won't get disqualified on title, author name, and such, mostly because it would be ludicrous. The 2500 word restriction should only apply to the story itself (I don't think the abstract's included in this count unless your abstract is actually part of the story).

You know, I didn't think about including the title and name and such on the actual story itself. I did put it in the e-mail body, including word count. Hope that doesn't disqualify me because it didn't say it was a requirement on the actual document itself. dfljsbndskjfb Crap.

I did the exact same thing. I'm hoping that since I put the info in the body of the email and the document was titled with the story title, that that will be enough. Fingers crossed!

Something I'm wondering about this contest ... I wonder if it's supposed to be based more around Dragon Age: Asunder as opposed to just the whole "mages versus templar" theme in general. I didn't think so, since the book is a potential prize, and why would they award you with a book if they expect you to have read it already? Argh, I should have asked for clarification. (Because I'm sure otherwise my totally awesome and b!tchin story was sure to win first place were it not for this small issue XD)

BUT, my other idea was to write about a Tranquil mage that is aware of how depressing not being able to feel emotions would be if he was able to feel emotions. So in his off hours he just hangs around the city trash-talking passersby in his boring monotone and pulling terrible pranks on people, because he figures that if he could feel, then he would find these things hilarious.

Oh God, I've already spotted sentences that could have been dramatically improved... hate the torture of waiting. I bet I won't get anywhere near the top! The experience was good enough to counter that, though, except for the stress and heartbreaking slaughter of my precious... uh... words. XD

Yeah... I hope something like this happens again. 'Twas a nice change from the norm. Oh, and good luck everyone! Always helps to have a bit of luck, as I learnt today in an epic fail game of Monopoly.
