Ok guys, since some people have started to post their stories already (or don't care :D), I've started a thread for you. :)

Go here to add your entry to the list! I'll update it in a few hours once a few of you have posted.

@Corker: I'd forgotten about that. Good call :)

Added mine! Thanks for making the thread!

Yep, thank you. Added mine as well.

So do you guys know for sure that posting a link to your story absolutely will not disqualify you?

No, but I was antsy enough about sharing that I'm willing to take that risk.

Aww :(  I read your story and thought it was really good.  I'd hate to think that you'd be disqualified!

I'm gong to hold out.  I feel like it's vain to say that ... like I think I actually have a chance LOL But it's the sort of thing you'd beat yourself up over for the rest of your life, you know?  Ack.

Has there been anything said about the exact date the winners are announced?

Not that I know of, which is why I got so impatient to post mine. If a date had been given, I might have been able to wait. :P

Well, at one point they did say we could share our stories after the deadline.

Thanks everyone!! Locking this to prevent any additional entries. Feel
free to discuss in the other thread! More info soon! Good luck and thank
you all :)

"More info soon" is the latest.

FYI: On the "News and Announcements" forum page, if you click the "Bioware" logo under a moderator's name next to a given thread, it will show you al the mod posts in that thread.  So you can quickly check the Asunder contest threads to see if Jessica or Chris have said anything new.  :wizard:

Well, let me know when you do make yours public! I've got your abstract saved as one I was going to go looking for!

Very nice! A short, yet deep, unique, and interesting way to tell a story. I might have to steal your format for my bag o' tricks B)

So, I was a little bit worried about posting my story therefore I skipped through the whole thread again:

Jessica Merizan wrote...
The reason we have the abstracts posted in the other thread is to showcase the entries, like a written art gallery! Browse through them and after the 10th feel free to PM any user whose abstract you found compelling and ask for the full story. It is up to him or her to share it. And after the 10th, feel free to post your story anywhere you'd like. We claim no ownership to your work.

Jessica Merizan wrote...
And you are free to do whatever you wish with your story once the challenge is finished and the winner announced [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

 So... I'm confused. :o

FWIW I think what she means is you can share your story privately after the 10th, but not put it on the internet until after the winners are declared.

It probably just makes it easier for the judges in some way if it's not online prematurely, because then they can easily tell you haven't copied it from somewhere/someone else, and that you haven't used a story you wrote last year (yeah, I know lots of stuff is date stamped, but it's extra work to check all that stuff).

Ultimately I don't know if it'll matter, but I'm going to wait myself just to be safe. :)

Nom de bleu! Quick, everyone--deny involvement! "I swear, officer, the stories were like this when we got here!"

Do I need to explain the obvious flaw with posting stories there? While undoubtedly appropriate and certainly good-spirited, some of us might feel somewhat left out ...:(

Urgh, I didn't realise it was registered people only :( You can still read it though, right? If you want you can post your entry here and I'll copy it across for you. I'll edit the OP accordingly.

Unfortunately the General Discussion threads aren't the place for something like this. :/

Saw this contest on and wrote on a whim since I love Bioware's games. Been lurking here too for a few days and y'all seem like a pretty cool bunch, so I might as well not be shy and say hallo. My forum n00b might be showing, but it won't let me post in the story thread,  so if anyone would like to read, I posted it on my blog jarrydbailey.blogspot.com/2012/01/please-be-gentle.html

Constructive criticism of the non-flame variety is always welcome. Cheers and Good Luck everybody! :D

Seeing this made me think of this THE WRITERS LOUNGE  created for experienced writers and noobs like myself - to come and share and swap knowledge and simply hang out.

NOTE: it is in DragonAge Origins forum - so be aware when you post stuff in regard to other games (re spoilers) best to post a link for that type of story.

Hope to see you there.

So excited to find out who the winners are! Good luck to everyone!
I will post my story on the other thread once the winners are announced, just on that odd chance :P

Thanks! I'll definitely check it out. I'm a spec fic writer in a local writers group full of old ladies writing thrillers and chick lit, and while I love my old ladies, it'll be nice to talk to writers who stroll the same alley as me.

I've only just seen this now, I would've totally participated in this.
Any chance of an extended deadline?
Or at the very least is there any chance of you guys doing more writing events like this one?

I don't see why there should be a problem posting it online now. Like, there can't be any confusing plagiarism claims if the contest is closed. There's no reason why whoever is judging it would bother to read them online or us praise/criticise each other's writings.

(PS. It's entirely possible I'm missing something logical though.)

I'd like to post mine but, frankly, I'm a little scared.

(Edit: Not to say that the BSN community isn't lovely. Just that I'm a wus.)

(Edit again: OK. I just read what SoL said. Maybe that "not already published" thing might be right. When I was a HS teacher I used to run the first 3 sentences of any essays through a search engine. Amazing what turns up ....)
