I don't have much faith in my story, but it seems like it'll stand out in the judging since I've found so few other attempts in the humoristic department.
Has there been any anouncements with info about the estimated time to select the top five?
By the way TehVGG: There could be another Owain. If the world is suposed to contain a decent amount of people then it's only logical that the names will be reused
Just that they're working as quickly as they can, based on Twitter yesterday.

Then, after re-reading my submission, I realized that I wrote a story centered on a mage that you never actually see cast any magic...
My hopes are dimmed.

My synopsis was:
An abomination stalks from fallen Lothering to corrupted Calenhad in search of dreams. As he drinks the secret waters of the lake, he remembers his childhood, how the Templar Cairn examined him for signs of magic and found him wanting. He remembers his godmother, the woman of the Wilds, and how she turned him away. He remembers many things, standing before a demon of desire, wondering if he is sane or perfect.
His fate is in your hands. Choose life or death, Warden.

Technically, my mage doesn't cast any spells either, but then again mine's sneaking into a very anti-mage post-game Kirkwall. Using magic in her situation could equal very bad times.

They've said we can post ours online, also, in response to a tweet directed at Jessica Merizan; so I've put mine up here, if anyone wants to read. If anyone wants to send me a link to their story by private message or just in reply, I'm excited to read other people's entries -- http://gregbuchanan....17/abomination/

Is your Cairn the same from Redemption? If so, very much looking forward to this, cause he was about the only character I liked, even when he annoyed me.
...No, that's not true. I *loved* Nyree, or whatever her name was.

Very much THIS! Plus I (and I am sure several others) did this for the fun of it. Win-Lose-or Draw...it was fun to write it and read other author's stories. The contest is just icing on the cake.

It is the same Cairn from Redemption, but it's probably quite unsatisfying as an appearance as it's mostly a cameo in brief. There are more substantial appearances from Flemeth and certain people who may or may not have travelled to Lake Calenhad during the time of Dragon Age: Origins. And I agree re: Cairn, even Felicia annoyed me a bit which is an unusual thing for Felicia to do, especially as I really liked Mark of the Assassin's version of her. Cairn felt, more so than the others, like an actual proper Dragon Age character who might conceivably be found as a companion in one of the games.
I read your story also, enjoyed the ending, its abruptness reminded me a lot of some of the stories you get in Skyrim's or DA's codices. Was the righteous spirit who looked like Anders in fact Justice? As I don't read a lot of fanfiction and haven't gotten to Asunder yet (halfway through The Calling right now, enjoying seeing the Architect again), it's the first post-DA2 campaign thing I've read in the DA setting, and I thought you handled following the campaign very well.

It was in fact Justice; can't get into too much other detail without potentially spoiling for others, but I saw your request on Twitter so I'll add you there and you can ask any other ?s you have.

Ahaha, no hard feelings mate. I did something similar and made a very obnoxious redundant sentence and misused a word.
I am ridiculously excited for this, though. I know I'm not going to take first place, but I'm crossing my fingers for spot number five. x)

If it makes sense in your stories, then it's probably better if they don't cast any spells. My story included a long fight/chase scene, and there was a lot of magic going around, but it's all about the context - everyone knows my guy is a mage, so he had nothing to hide.BrennaCeDria wrote...

Title: The Last Meal
social.bioware.com/871096/blog/211081/
Synopsis: Grinon is a chef that just happens to be an apostate mage. For years he
has used his magical abilities in secret to create fantastic dishes and
recipes the likes none have seen in Kirkwall. Now he has been roped last
minute into cooking a meal for the local Templars and a friend from his
past will soon reveal his secret. He must decide what is important:
remaining true to his dreams or staying free.
Added mine to the list. Wish I had more time to edit it before I had submitted it, but those are the breaks.

Remembering
Author: Amber Cargan (on FF.net)
Constructive Criticism Requested: Yes, via comment or PM
Synopsis: Bend but never break. This is the way of the bow. Natani remembered it through a fog, a dream that slipped through her fingers in the morning light. It had once meant so much more to her than it did now. The Tower tried to make her forget. For so long she held on to what little she had left, hoarding it like a starving man does his last meal. Her mother had begged her not to forget. But she had. Perhaps all she had left was a prayer for home. Perhaps home needed to find her.
