Yet another request to be added to the thread - thank you in advance!

Stained Glass
Author: Combination NC
Constructive Criticism Requested: Yes (Please keep in mind that I am not a native English speaker!)
Synopsis: The tower has stained glass windows that does not let in much natural light. They are placed so far up that she cannot look outside, and she  wonders if they have built it so in the hopes that if she cannot see the outside world, she will forget about it and let all dreams of a life outside the tower go. She traces secret patterns on the stone walls and paints pictures of memories on the back of her eyelids. She creates a tiny winter in the palm of her hand, and carry an unknown longing within her heart. The thought that there is no way out is a heavy one.

ETA: Noticed that the line breaks ended up strange in some places of the blog entry. Am working on fixing that somehow.

Well, here's my entry for the Asunder contest. This is the 2nd version, the original story was a bit longer but I felt it would've been criminal to cut it down to 2,5k so I rewrote it, kind of. If someone could post this in the "Asunder Writing Competition Entries" I'd appreciate it. If you need the actual .docx to comment more thoroughly, send me a pm and I'll see what I can do.

The Right
Author: OdanUrr
Constructive Criticism Requested: Yes (comment on the blog, PM, or request .docx to comment there)
Synopsis: In the 84th year of the Glory Age, Divine Galatea granted all the grand clerics of the Chantry the power to purge a Circle entirely should they deem it irredeemable. This power would comprise the most skilled warriors of the Templar Order, and they would become known as "The Right of Annulment." This is one of their stories.

Enjoy!Posted Image

I'm a bit confused; what are the technical requirements for posting to that thread, that so many people aren't able to do so themselves? I nearly never came to the forums before this contest, but I was able to post without any problems. (<-honest question, not trying to troll or anything)

It requires that DA2 be registered and linked to your BSN account. A few of the forum sections (like this one) don't require game registration to post, but others like that one do.

All the little icons you have showing under your forum avatar are the games you have linked to your BSN account :)

Ah, I knew that's where those icons were from, but didn't realize that they also indicated access to different parts of the forums, in a way. Thanks!

*Gulp* Guess it's time to put in my request to be added to the list.

Trace

Author: Dasque

Constructive Criticism Requested: Sure, why not?

Synopsis: And so she pretended not to see the menace and sullen hatred that
slinked silently around the experience of seeing childhood friends
robbed of their emotion, left as mindless servants, no longer a danger
to those around them and as obedient as any puppet on a string can be.
She recognized no reason to protest or even dare to mourn—not unless she
wanted the shadow of accusation to blacken the quiet corner where she
sat with her head lowered, reading her books and doing exactly as she
was told.

Maker, once I re-read my story I noticed that I forgot to remove a "the" and made the existence of "the him". Oh, the regret.

Oh well, it happens. Even the best of the best can make the same mistake.

Ahaha, no hard feelings mate. I did something similar and made a very obnoxious redundant sentence and misused a word.

I am ridiculously excited for this, though. I know I'm not going to take first place, but I'm crossing my fingers for spot number five. x)

That is something that is constantly on my mind as well. I don't think I'll win and I hope I won't, but being among the best five is something I would like. That is the only way i can find out how well I did, I guess.

Just curious, I was going to compile a decent number of entries into a Word doc to make a .mobi out of to read on my Kindle, since that's easier than at the computer for me. Is anyone specifically interested in being included OR in getting a copy of the .mobi file when I have it ready? All stories will include their title and BSN username for credit. ^_^ (Cross-posting this to the entries thread as well, just in case.)

You have my permission if you want... I have a nook, could I read it on that as well?

I'm pretty sure you can read .mobi on any reader type; technically I don't even have a Kindle, I just use the Kindle app on my phone and tablet. The converter I have can make a bunch of different file types, though, so I'll double check about .mobi compatibility for Nook and other files types if needed.

Edit: Looks like Nook doesn't support .mobi, but I can make a PDF at least, if not an epub instead.

Due to problems with Fanfiction.net, such as a two day wait and stories apparently only being allowed to be uploaded in .doc format. I cannot use them and decided to just upload the .rtf file of my story to sendspace. Which is a safe and easy file host.

Wounded Iris
Author: The Grey Nayr
Synopsis: Iris is a talented mage haunted by the death of her father, an event that brought her to the Circle of Magi. On the eve of her Harrowing, she contemplates the Rite of Tranquility as a release from her emotional suffering. By her side is her mentor Gilroy, her friends Angela and Francois, and Nolan, the love of her life from the Templar Order. Can they persuade her away from his drastic course of action and convince her to face her demons?

Note: If the mods/administration has any problem with my choice of hosting, let me know and I'll try and change it.

If you wanted, I can convert it for you, but I think any "standard" format was acceptable for the submission, and where you share it publicly is up to you so far as I know.

I'm going to set aside some time this weekend and read through the stories everyone has posted so far. I know mine was pretty weird so I'd like to see some more traditional takes on the subject.

OMG I completely agree with you; FFN is completely bonkers these days.  Methinks we're going to see ads on that sight soon or perhaps there will be paid accounts because they obviously cannot handle the current capacity.
