Maybe they already have. Maybe the Final Five contestants have already gotten e-mails telling them they've won, but they were asked not to say anything until the grand prize winner was chosen.

Boo, that wouldn't be any fun. :P

Same here. I know it's only been two weeks, but... the suspense! I'm so curious about which stories made it to the top five.

Think of it like Battlestar Galactica, where the final five cylons took forever to be revealed. And the anticipation was delicious.

But, yeah, no. This antipation is painful. We all entered because we are passionate about writing and DA, right?

I know which one - out of the thread - that I like best. I'd put $20 on the nose on that one, but betting on favourites is probably the road to rack and ruin at this point.

Ooh, I'm curious which you're thinking of. I've skimmed through most of the stories that have been posted, but haven't put enough of a read into most of them to get proper CCs and reviews done for more than two or three yet. Shoot me a PM if you don't mind, I'm curious and wanna skip ahead and see if I agree. :D

Well, considering we've only got about 50 stories out of 400+ displayed, there's no way of telling if one of the really good ones is simply one we haven't gotten to read.

:)

I'd put $20 on this one, regardless. (But, yeah, not $50.)

I've only read one complete story, but I've read all of the abstracts. It is really hard to tell which are going to be in the top when most of the stories haven't been posted. I know I haven't posted mine, and just judging by the size of the abstract thread compared to the thread with full stories, there's a huge difference in numbers. There's clearly a lot of talent here though.

That's exactly why I entered. :)

My innards just got all squiggly feeling >_>

I read all the abstracts; each one is so different, and the stories and perspectives all seem so varied. Since we all love reading and we all love DA, we all have many different takes on such events, which is really awesome :)

There was one that I read the abstract of and loved. It was something about a Templar being with a mage who was about to turn Tranquil (so like, her ending days or something), and she was reflecting back on her life. I'm betting on this one.

*Reading back on the previous thread*

I REALLY want to read the top five chosen. I hope they have their stories uploaded somewhere...

Does anyone know about the Fex? That's what I wrote about, in my short story. They're barely mentioned in Dragon Age, but they captured my attention. A group of ancient people who lived on Par Vollen before the Qunari took over and were never heard from. Some speculations are that they and the Qunari have a peace-treaty because they're just as advanced as each other, others say the Qun either killed or took them captive.

In my story, my mage meets a well guardian named Kel'dra who is Fex, but the fiction is more of an introduction than a story really, so I'm sort of nervous.

I am kinda anxious and lurking this thread like a lurker? I dunno, I've been enjoying your conversations but when are the results due?

I'm betting either today or tomorrow or the next day or the next day.

Yeah.

Because David Gaider is causing me to almost pee my pants:

"David Gaider[/b] @[/s]davidgaider[/b][/i] Reply[/b] [/i] Retweet[/b] [/i] Favorite[/b] · Open[/list]Just received the shortlisted pile of contest entries. Got tonight's reading cut out for me. #[/s]veryexcited"[/b]

Okay, I'll stop my tangents, but I want to throw out one last thought that crossed my mind:

I wonder if they're going to tell us if ours was in the list that was sent to David Gaider. It sounds like much more than five was pushed in his direction. I'd like to know just so that I can die happy if mine was read by the man himself; regardless if it was denied.

I get the impression that there's a group that pick five, and then Gaider picks out of an aggregate group larger than the five, rather than Gaider picking the best out of the five.

All in all, it does not matter. It was very good to write something DA and even if I don't win, it means some really kickass story won and I will be reading theirs.
I re-read mine and found a typo that made me kill myself...

I thought his choice of words was interesting too, a "shortlisted pile" rather than the top five. It could mean nothing, but I'm curious enough right now to think about this sort of thing. I would think the number is still around five, at least. And I agree, I would be happy just knowing that he read mine.

Sounds a little like mine. Wounded Iris.

Although in my story, Iris was planning on being made Tranquil because of a traumatic experience that has haunted her for years, and everyone around her was trying to talk her out of it, including her lover, who is a Templar named Nolan.

Serendoctinator, also the fact that he mentioned he had his "reading for the night" cut out for him. Maybe I'm just over-thinking this, but adding that onto the mention of a "shortlist" sort of makes me feel like there was more than five.

The Gray Nayr, that may have actually been your story. Do you mind sending it to me? Er, unless you already posted it, I can search for it on here.

BlazePT, I couldn't agree more.

The Community Team will choose our top five favorites who will receive a complimentary copy of Dragon Age Asunder signed by David Gaider and have their entries read by the man himself!

From Chris's first post, Gaider should only be choosing from those five favorites from the Community Team.  Using "shortlisted pile" would apply exactly to that scenario, because the five favorites are a shortlist for the overall winner.  But we shall see.

As far as the entries go, most people, like me, haven't shared theirs yet.  There's no way to accurately gauge the quality of the all the submissions from the small sample pool we have.  I expect we'll see more entries once the results are announced.  I don't plan to post mine anywhere until I know.

It also says "David will choose the overall winner." It's not exactly clear whether this means "overall winner" out of all entries, or "overall winner" out of the five.
