Exactly!  So its possible that if we all scrape obsequiously and flagellate (or is it felicitate? Image IPB) our unworthy selves at his feet he may take pity on us.  On second thought, perhaps you are right and bowing and scraping will only serve to feed the humour beast and prolong the agony.

Worship sounds like too much work. :V Too much head-floor action and angling going on there for my liking.
And it isn't Tuesday any more, so no ritualistic sacrifices...
I say we just grab a bag of chips and play some video games/occupy ourselves with actual life for the remainder of the week. Timekilling patience is a virtue, after all.

If you're on the east coast, try PAX East :) I can't afford to get out to Seattle even every other year, but I'm not that far from Boston. I went my first time last year and it was amazing.

Meh, I'd like to see Boston, but I'd much rather get out of Savannah in August than in March/April. 100* summers do that to a person.

I'm like an hour away from Seattle.

This is why I can stand to live in Sacramento. It really is the humidity.

I curse whoever decided Dragon*Con should be in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend.

Someone explain David Gaider's tweet to me.

"Plagiarize if you like-- hey, knock yourself out-- but claim originality, along with "I never even heard of Dragon Age"? ****, please."

^ Some other company started drama, or...?

I wonder if it has to do with this article.

http://www.inenterta...n-dragon-age-3/

^ Though I'm starting to get annoyed when people are saying that Bioware is copying Skyrim. That's not what they said they were going to do with Dragon Age 3. They said that they were going to take the element of an open world and use it in the next Dragon Age, that's it.

I'm curious, too.

Is it about the competition, maybe? They said they would check for plagiats...

Could be, but I doubt that they'd really mind too much other than disqualifying you out. Like, I doubt he'd go to the extent of making a tweet about it. I have a feeling it might be some other gaming company/site/book/something.

Also, the whole "never even heard of Dragon Age" bit makes it seem less likely that it's in relation to the contest.

I'd be over the moon to even end up as a finalist. I wasn't so much writing to win the prizes as to get my writing noticed by BioWare. DG reading it, choosing it, or the story getting used in any way would be icing on the cake.

(Continues drumming fingers....)

@OdanUrr...I do see his point. Letting us know who the top five are is one thing, but Gaider saying, I read yours but didn't pick it, might be a little crueller. ;)

I do kind of wish they'd have a system by which we could all upvote our 10 favorite synopses, and the top community-voted ones win something, too. There are some I read that I was really gobsmacked by, and would not feel bad getting beaten by. And I do think this community is genuine enough to honestly consider each other's work rather than just upvote our own and be done with it. :)

We are a pretty awesome community like that. Damn, I love this geeky cluster of people. x)

That's actually a pretty brilliant idea for another contest though. It'd be a lot to read for just every individual person (Bioware read like, what, 450-ish for the sake of this contest?), but it'd be neat if it somehow worked. I was insanely amazed at how many excellent writers there were for this contest; and that's just my impression after only reading the abstracts!

I agree, some of the abstracts were amazing! I feel bad because due to time constraints I cannot read them all, but the ones I've read made my short story feel like a lousy fanfic :(

Indeed this does seem like a good community. Looking forward to sharing if there's still room on the mass thread!

Same here. To even be in the top five would be a great honor.

I'm glad it's a good community, but I noticed that about Dragon Age Communties in general. Maybe it's the fandom?

The German fansite I'm frequenting is full of really nice people and you certainly feel at home there. Of course, there are one or two exceptions, but one can ignore them. When I look into other communties like Skyrim or Witcher I kinda get really scared and leave as soon as possible. There are strange people there I tell you!

BTW: I don't think Gaider saying: "I read your story but I did not pick it" is cruller than not reading it at all. Writing is my hobby but I think everybody wants to see how far they can get with that hobby. So someone, who is your senior in this department (more or less) is saying "I read your story" - I think I wouldn't even hear the rest. Because he said I read your story.

I had a hunch as to what he'd be referring to--and I got it in one. It's definitely _not_ about the competition.

Does anyone remember the fanfic The Sten and The Warden?

Cant say I do, but I'll assume it's a lot like this Commander and Rautu whatever it is.

I was hoping there would be news about the winners/finalists today too. So sad.

I've never seen the fanfic, but after reading just one review of this book, it does sound suspiciously like FemCousland x Sten. o_o

Down to the grey skin and white braids. That's... that's something.
