Thanks for pointing that out! I would have completely missed it because I only read the first review and stopped after seeing so many connections to Sten (even being found in a cage) and FemCousland.motomotogirl wrote...

Did you read the comments, or just the review? Gaider's reply is in the comments.OdanUrr wrote...

Well, I'm not sure how much she'll get away with it now that it's come to BioWare's attention. It's so completely obvious that she stole from Dragon Age, and they have proof (from what I've read, it seems the original fanfic had her name on it), so hopefully something can be done.My Name Does Not Matter wrote...
I'm missing something. I haven't ever read that fanfic... it IS a fanfic, right? Or?
*Googles my heart out*
EDIT: ... Wow. I just... I can't. She didn't even TRY to hide her plagarism. Just... Really? She got away with it, too?

least we wont get kicked in the backside for it, What I don't understand why she did it...did she want to be found out?motomotogirl wrote...
Also, the name "Boudicca"? Really? Can you try a LITTLE harder? Complete with Irish-sounding last name? Does she also rub shoulders with Bann Arthur and Ser Lancelot?
EDIT: Actually, guys, think about it: she actually gets people to PAY to read this stuff. Everyone's reading our fanfics for free! Suddenly I feel like a real shmuck LOL

I don't think that's Gaider.
The negative review is from August of 2011, not January of 2012.
Also it says the commentor is from Chicago. Gaider lives in Alberta, Canada.
"Boudicca" sounds familiar. Where have I heard it before?motomotogirl wrote...

And we're all doing it the right way, by not ripping off someone else's work as our own.Plus, our fanfiction is better.

I agree. Also, the same dialogue? Seriously? I didn't even bother reading any part of the book, but this whole thing is just... unforgivable. She didn't even try to hide it, or change it at all.trampledpixie wrote...
I'm just so glad this finally got caught. BioWare is more than generous in allowing us to create fanworks--especially in the shadow of such things happening right now regarding intellectual property and the internet--that it makes my teeth grind to see someone do something as underhanded as this. So selfish as to try to sell someone else's intellectual property as your own with only the names changed? Dialogue straight out of Origins?
The Arishok says, "No." And I would even put that fixing this mess IS the demand of the Qun.

Heh. Well, people get heaps of money for drawing fanart of My Character + My Character's Love Interest, why not fanfiction? Although at least the artists admit Bioware's ownership of their own characters. Gaider's protest (if it's Gaider) appears to be just as much about the writer denying any knowledge of or inspiration from Dragon Age than anything else. I don't know how much of this story is word-for-word from the game as many Blight retellings are.
Most people have more integrity than to claim it's all their own imagination. Just read the description of this story: giants from the islands in the far north? Orphaned woman who goes on to command armies while seeking revenge for her murdered parents? Rescuing this strange giant from a 'holding cell'? Maker's breath.
