Death in Venice was one of the books I was lucky I could opt out. Though a friend of mine had to read it. She never fell faster asleep and after the exam she actually burnt the book.

I just laughed out loud so hard LOL Yes, it is a rough read, especially for a high schooler.  It was a rough read as an undergraduate.  It's not very long though.  More a novelette than anything.  Oh but you read it in the native German I'm sure.  I wonder at the differences.

You guys have such long words.  :P

 I wish you all good luck here. I never said that before but now it seems so real.

Truer words were never spoken. Good luck, everyone, with all my withered heart!

I predict much obsessive checking of emails come Monday...

Good luck everyone!

(Oh, and for the record, I volunteered to read "The Confessions of St. Augustine" in high school. and enjoyed it. I am *weird*)

Me too - It would be very helpful - especially as I dont think they will individually critique everything submitted individually.

Good luck, everyone! I genuinely had no idea that Dragon Age had such a strong group of fanfic writers before this contest. These entries and summaries were nothing short of ridiculously awesome.

I wonder too but by all means no, I am not going to find out myself.

And our words are only so long because we put together what belongs together. :P

Bahnhof -> rail station
Hauptgebäude -> main building
Schadenfreude -> Schadenfreude (bad joke, I know...)

By the way, there is something I always wanted to know. Why did the Americans start to use the German "über" as a prefix eventhough you cannot write the ü and I always have to read uber. Do you know how confusing that was when I first saw that? :crying:

EDIT: Anyway. I call it a night. Or morning in my case...

All right, that's it, you're both grounded for willful neglect of the umlaut!  Into the corner with both of ye!

@ColorMeSurprised: Yeah, schools in the US get stuck with a list of "must read" books too, and I didn't like many of them. There were some pleasant surprises, like Animal Farm. At first, I thought they were making us read a childish book about talking animals, but then I enjoyed it and the history behind it. It sounds like you guys had to read a lot more than we did though.

Oh, I'm one of the few Americans here who knew that "über" is a German word, and that "ü" (which I have to copy and paste because it's not on my keyboard) and "u" are different? Cool. I only know a couple German words from TV/movies/music though, so I'm not sure how different those letters would sound.

Me too! I'm so glad to know that they've made the choice and we'll get our answers soon. :D

Someone mentioned checking e-mail a lot on Monday. That's what I'll be doing. I'll have to wake up early and spend a long time just waiting for information to pop up here, my inbox, or twitter.

Luckily, Sunday shifts at work are always busy with inane reports that should keep me occupied, if not distracted. Monday's going to be hell if they don't post as soon as he forwards them the info, though!

Of course, that means there's going to be 400-plus forum-goers failing the Joining.

I just hope I don't go out like a punk and start wailing about my wife and kid.
