I'm not expecting (and I don't think there will be) any ill-feeling towards winners. I'm just hoping to read the top entries, if only out of curiosity to see what kind of style and composition they picked as being the best of the bunch. A fun and interesting exercise, and great idea by Bioware.
Well in that case, I suppose I'll share mine assuming I win. Heck, I'll probably share it even if I lose, because why not?
I know I'll be sharing my story as soon as winners are announced, winning or not. If nothing else, I gotta prove to my other readers that I wasn't making stuff up about me being in a contest, XD.

What on earth is the Bioware blog?
And that, my friend, is the reason why they'll be posting it there. So people start reading it.

I'm interested in what kind of plot they liked best! There have been so many unique angles within the confines of the rules, I want to see which ideas sparked their interest.

This is what interests me the most as well. I'm curious to see if the top five will all be very similar in style/theme or if they will be almost a sampling of a wider variety of ideas/styles.

I think you're right. I'm so used to anything and everything in this world being related in some way to marketing/making money that I'm not even annoyed. I understand. Just as this whole contest was a form of prommotion for the new book.

Speaking of writing challenges, I have a tool some of you might be interested in.
http://www.scattered.../DAPrompts.html
The Dragon Age Random Prompt Generator (the work of Cherith on Tumblr, and her husband) coughs up two characters and a keyword/phrase to work on. It can be as shippy or non-shippy as you want, and the combinations can get quite...interesting ( Ketojan/Rage Demon/magical girl AU, anyone?). I like to use it to get the brain rolling. Hopefully someone else gets a kick out of it too!
Gave this a whirl and got Irving and Flemeth. The phrase was "Close enough to hurt". Thanks for sharing
I'm going to have WAY too much fun!

I'm the Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern, Rome, Stockholm, Wien time zone. I suppose you are right that it will probably be during the afternoon or the evening. Either way, I will check every hour about any updates during that time. Bring it on, laws of nature!DiBernsGB wrote...

While it is awesome and yet very torturing at the same time, I'm annoyed by the fact that I don't know when on Feb. 1st they will be announced because of the fact that I live in Europe. Time diffrences can drive you mad. Anyways, I look forward to know who wins this and hope that this type of event will occur in the future again. It was fun.
I think it's fairly safe to assume it will be sometime during the business day local Edmonton time (GMT -7, I believe). It'll be later in the afternoon / night for you, depending on what part of Europe you're in.

I saw the ideas of titles for the final five a few pages back, and they're awesome. Also, I support the creation of a thread for us writers when the contest is over. I would miss talking to you guys too. I won't be participating in any writing challenges/prompts though. I entered this one because it's an official BioWare contest, but if it's just for fun... yeah, all my time and brainpower for that sort of thing should really be spent on my original story. I've got to get it finished.

DiBerns is right. Edmonton is GMT -7. I live in Saskatoon and we're GMT -6. Thank heaven for work or I probably would have driven the 6 hours to Bioware's door
@ColorMeSurprised - I would like to join a writer's thread if it ever happens

I wish they would... even though I don't think they will. I really would like to know if I should be happy or sad right now! I'll just have to settle for a combination of nervous, hopeful, and tired. I should have known that my staying up half the night would only ensure that the winners would not be posted today.OdanUrr wrote...
They could post the top 20 list so we can speculate in the meantime. But perhaps that would be a bit cruel to those (of us?) who didn't make it.

While it would be for others, I think it's fine. I entered this challenge to see how far I could get with my current writing ability (Well, it's possible that I didn't even make it that far). To know how you did it can be painful, but also rewarding at the same time.OdanUrr wrote...

True, and it'd be better than knowing only the top 5 finalists. We could even try and guess the top 5!

In other news, tried out that great DA story spawner. I got Sanga/Eleanor Cousland, the theme being "guilty." Yes. Much yes.

I too would love to continue on with a writing thread/group!
You guys are all too radical and would love to write more with you all. Hopefully, we can make it that long, if the wait doesn't kill us before then! >)

I never contributed to the banterfest, but I have thoroughly enjoyed following the fun. So, thanks for that guys! And extra thanks for relaying all of the competition updates.
A better-late-than-never Good Luck to all who entered. Here's hoping for more writing comps!
