Fenris bored me so much. I can take Anders-level angst and drama, but Fenris elevates it to an artform. I almost thought for a while that my game was bugged and I couldn't get Varric to rival status, until I played a violent/agressive character. WOW did that change!
Back to Anders, I prefer friend-manced, but rivalry was good for a once-through as well. And Seb has to always be rivalry, even if we don't get scenes for him. I'm not doing the whole chaste thing.
I like to call him "emo-elf" since it's really quite fitting. And I liked to tell him that he is an angst crazed bigot blinded by prejudice and hate. I was like: COME ON!!! every freaking time he used "after I was branded with this lyrium" or anything related to his tattoos. I wanted to drown him in the Waking Sea after he left me because "he wasn't any good" and I wanted to burn him alive after he dared to act as if nothing happened. But I still very much loved him.
In real life, I wouldn't stay single for three years, mind you.
Anders betrayal very much hurt me, even though I was not in a relationship with him. So, knowing what was going to happen but wishing, as a Hawke in a relationship with him I could avoid letting Anders do this, I very much was disappointed with the end.
I wanted to romance Anders since Awakening and was head over heels with that stupid flirt. In DA2 I was really... oh well... what ever...

See, my Marian (and it's always Marian, in all but one save) would have tried to talk him into a different target had she known his plans, but only once, and after that she'd do whatever needed. Between being hopelessly in love with Anders, and little sister Bethany, there was no other option but war.

I pissed on his beliefs as a means to the end. Much more commonly, I just shoved the idea of "retake Starkhaven" down his throat.

My Hawke (female, in relationship with him, mage herself) killed him and fought for the Templars. It was great to see all these Templars bow down to a mage. Carver was never prouder of his sister I guess...
And even though Beth was my little sister I didn't like her very much.
But I'm off for a while. I'm going to make "Kalter Hund" (literally translated 'cause I couldn't find an English equivalent: "cold dog")

The reason I don' like Bethany is her attitude towards her own magic. She knows magic is dangerous but yet she still refuses to learn about the dangers, which the ability of magic accompany. When I was in the Deep Roads with her and we met that thing she says something like "I keep my distance from these things and know nothing about them." I think she says the same thing when we meet with this one Templar, who was captured.
If I were her sibling I would force that knowledge into her brain...

Yet another reason to love her. Personally, I took that conversation to mean that she knew well enough to stay away from it, and that even learning the Circle's version of defense would expose her to things she didn't need to be exposed to. Considering she's one of the few mages in the game not to go abomination or maleficar... >.>

Maybe the translation or the voice actor made it sound different to me, but I always interpreted her as some one who is ignorant to their own dangerous situation.

One of the hallmarks of Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos is that the more you learn of the dark and eldritch gods that slumber beyond the stars, the crazier you get. It's cosmic horror, the slow and strange understanding of how utterly small and insignificant you - and all humanity - are in the face of the infinity of the universe and the powers that dwell therein. The only way to stay sane is to remain ignorant, happy in your little illusion that your life and actions matter.
Even if Thedas isn't a Mythos sort of world, keeping strictly away from all things demonic except the knowledge that they are BAD isn't the worst strategy. The more educated you are, the more you risk Merrill's and Anders' errors - thinking that you have everything under control, that it's perfectly safe to make *this* deal with *this* spirit because you know what you're doing.

I would guess that it's the localization, because Bethany in English has always come off, to me, as one who is very weary of such things. Not necessarily afraid, because that emotion would cause its own problems, but definitely cautious.

Oh, so that's what you meant.
I do understand this thinking and it might apply to many people, but I might be some of the not so sane people that want to understand and want to know eventhough we know it's evil. I guess that's reason I dislike Bethany. For the same reason others like her.
But I will look more into Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos.
(That the same Cthulhu from South Park?)
By the way, I just went into the Blooming Rose to look around for Serendipity. In German she was voiced by an old woman. <_<

Let us never regret the paths we chose
Through the darkspawn and the demons
Through the faithful and the heathens
Through the Templars and the Mages
Let our words have meaning upon the pages
Our Wardens have fought, our Champions have braved
Our scripts have been read, our stories have been made
Let us stand together, as this night falls
And know in our hearts that we gave it our all
Now I wish you the best of luck my friends
For quite soon our own chapters are set to end

May.... May I regret it anyway?
I'm not sure if the individual should happen to read this, but I apologize to whoever had to read my piece of work.
I made the mistake of failing to give myself time to read it over, and it has brought shame upon my family.
If there is ever a next time, I'm never waiting until the last minute again. >u>;
Oh! Yes! And thank you, to all the denizens of this board, for making this place interesting to lurk. c:

And I too, regret four obvious, glaring, haunting mistakes I made. I buried my head in shame when I saw that, but I do not regret taking part.

I think a lot of people (myself included) promised themselves that they were not going to open up their story and start pouring through it looking for errors after it was sent off, but then did it anyway.
And then cringed, cried, wailed, lamented, and rent their clothing when they (inevitably) found some mistake they had failed to notice before sending it.
I have done this. Thankfully, after tomorrow we can stop thinking about it, one way or the other.
