Tales go that once when I was a kid  I used to play with string for hours, now? I can't do anything 1 hour long without getting bored.

When I read this, I thought you might've been my cat. Those words could've come straight from his mouth!

Maybe I am a cat, maybe I am your cat logged into another computer! Have you wondered what he does at night? Maybe he's a lvl 80 rogue.

Not even playing BioWare games? Oh, if I could, I would play them for many hours at a time.

It depends on the game, Mass Effect 1 and Dragon Age 1? Sure! :D

You don't want to know how many hours at a time I've played BioWare games...

I'm pretty sure when DAO came out I played it all the way through the night and then it got to 6am and it was getting light outside and I didn't even realise how much time had passed.

It's official, cats love BioWare games! Image IPB I can just imagine one playing an MMO. (Wow, that's actually kind of ironic. It would mean that somewhere, a cat has a gaming PC when I don't.)

Cats are capable of many things, even playing RPGs. But I think mine would probably suck at it. He just sits in front of the heater looking at the lights... He's like me :(

Has anyone here heard about the new Mass Effect novel Deception and how terrible it is? Apparently, it is so full of errors that a guy posted a video of him burning the book. This sort of thing bothers me because it could happen to Dragon Age.

Bethadots wrote...
I think having the head writer of the game writing the novels helps against that, it is kind of shocking though. You'd think they'd get at least one Mass Effect fan to proof read it first...

It's not just that it is a different writer, it's that the story is to full of errors in ME lore that the fans who have read it have created a Google Doc listing all the errors.  https://docs.google....o/preview?pli=1

Guess I won't be reading the novel then... And why can I not OPEN this link? :crying:

I like to sleep. Scratch that I LOVE to sleep. When I played DAO it was like: Oh, it's six already? I would go to bed and wake at nine to play again - on the weekends, mind you. When I was in school I was really anxious to get back on my PC.

It was the same with books I couldn't stop reading but at least I could take them with me to school and read under my desk.

I'm guessing nothing will be up until at least 11am Eastern time (9am Bioware time) but looking back at the previous posts on the blog, there doesn't seem to be a consistent time-of-day for the posts already there. Which means it could be any time--even late. T-T

Oh, my guess is they announce the winners at 23.59 just to torture us. :D

I hope they won't wait until too late to announce the winners. Everyone's going to be watching this thread until it happens, unable to concentrate on anything else. xD My guess would be late morning BioWare time, or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

If you're using Google Reader, all you need is the main URL. That's what I've got loaded into mine at least, and it retrieved all previous posts just fine. No idea what the delay or lack thereof is between a new post being made and GReader importing it, though.

Link! Link! Liii~ink! Please.

I'd rather not link directly before a mod smacks me upside the head, but let's see what the relevant tweet was...ah, here we go.

I got an email this morning from Amazon recommending that I buy Asunder from it. I think that's a bad sign.

I'm thinking they'll announce it about noon, PST. That seems to be the time that they usually update.

I have a question... am I the only one that wrote a story with a happy ending?

All of the entries I've read have been completely tragic, one of them had me on the brink of tears (thanks Miri1984 :crying:) ... not that tragedy is a bad thing, I've loved reading every single one, but now my happy ending just seems a bit silly and naive next to all the death and demons...

Not my fault, I was listening to "Rage and Serenity" when I wrote my ending... over and over and over again.

I think that's a good thing. I've entered other short story competitions before and a lot of the time judges point out about how dark and tragic and depressing the majority of the stories are, and pick winners that are something different, either humourous or feel-good etc. That's not to say a sad, tragic story can't be good, because they definitely can, but I suppose if the judges are trawling through hundreds of sad stories and then come across a good one that makes them laugh or feel good, then that will stand out to them more.

Mine doesn't have a happy ending at all (maybe bittersweet, though even that is pushing it). A lot of short stories I write seem to be quite sad and dark so I probably should try to write something a bit more uplifting next time.

My ending is open with implied tradgedy. I don't know about other competitions, but the theme of this one kind of lends itself to drama, at least. I have read two FANTASTIC stories that were happy, though.

That's true, there's so much potential for tragedy that it's hard to find a way things could end happily for a mage or templar. What a bittersweet world we all like to spend time in.

Sounds like a reference to the review she wrote--the one that started this whole kerfuffle.

No, you're not alone. Gaider may like his bittersweet endings, but I wrote a happy one.

Suuuure, all the templars and hostages the bloodmage killed are still dead, and the bloodmage is skewered like a roast nug, but the templar protagonist survives, a hostage is rescued, and people are thankful. Which, as he says, is all he needs.

I also wouldn't put it passed everyone to try and play to the crowd, so far as judging is concerned. Gaider's twitter profile does say he likes bittersweet endings "the bestest" I believe. I'm sure that quite a few entries were at least written subconsciously with this in mind, in hopes that the author's story got to him.
