Congratulations to everyone who won. While I am now...slightly depressed and disheartened by not even making it to the top 20 entries. I'll still push forward with my writing to improve. It's the harsh and rough road of a writer XD

I hope some of the steady customers of this thread will still come here. I wanted to ask if we wanna realize the "Writer's corner" and if, where on this forum since everybody should be allowed to write there.

Any suggestions?
Someone who wants to open the thread?
Are there still people, who would be interested?

I still think a thread for writers is a great idea. I enjoyed talking with all of you guys. :D

I'm not sure which forum would be best for it though.

Edit: After reading the list again, I noticed that some other people I know from this thread are also in the top 20. A late congratulations to you guys too! Sorry I missed it. I was half-asleep when I read the list the first time. xD

Not getting in doesn't always mean you did something wrong or that you weren't good enough as a writer.

It could have been something simple like a concept. Every creative endeavour that's judged is at the mercy of what the judges like or don't like, which is personal opinion.

For instance, I know I have a soft spot for stories that do a really good metaphor, or spin a gripping tale. DG sounds like (IMO) he has a preference for stories that have distinctive characters and/or are character-driven.

Doesn't mean your entry, or anyone's, was particularly lacking in awesomeness. :) Just that some tickled his fancy more than others.

EDIT: Oh, and I said it in the winners thread, but congratulations to those who made the cut! :) POST YOUR STORIES! That goes for everyone :)

^ I agree. Not making top 20 isn't an indictment. A great story is that real connection between writer and reader, in so many ways. There are some things the writer can't control. Ever.

My writing; style/structure etc, was clunky, but I do think I made a great character and I made top 20. I only actually like what I write about 30% of the time. This time I liked it and I knew it was good. (But not jaw-droppingly brilliant.) The point is that my character likely grabbed someone's heartstrings, which I think is pretty great.

If you say, "I couldn't *even* make top 20" you're selling our community short. The stories were *amazing*. I feel very honoured. I wasn't going to post mine, because it's actually a bit personal. But I will. In the other thread.

Well done all. I've read heaps of entries. I'll keep reading them, too.

Yeah, I agree. I've gone through quite a few entries in the last few days and read several stories that - even though they didn't make the top 20 - I felt were amazing, and certainly on par with the quality of the top 20.

And even though I did not make the top 20, I'm still proud of what I've written.

Not to diminish the accolades that the top 20 should receive; they definitely do deserve them.

I was slightly disappointed not to see your name, actually! Though to be fair, both you and I were treading dangerously on the line of breaking canon, I still loved the ideas in your story!

Congratulations to the winners! I too am a little disappointed I didn't place, I had moments of convincing myself that I may have a chance, before slipping back into thinking my work was crap. It's a challenge just to enter let alone write. It's wonderful to see the passion people share for the Dragon Age Universe and I hope to see/enter more challenges in the future.

Thank you for saying so, that does make me feel better. ^_^ I'm glad at least somebody liked my ideas!

I was surprised not to see your name up on that list too. But ces't la vie!

I liked both your ideas, too. The only half done rite which inwoke new powers and the mage that got into Kirkwall after the annulment with the open end. I would have bet you would be in the top 20.

Yeah, but you managed to be disturbing while still staying very much within likely character history. My Fade-walking scene was vital in my story, but tricky for the universe.

But there are those that are called "Fade Walkers"... "Dream Walkers"? Whatever they were called in English. Couldn't your mage have been one of them? Then it wouldn't really be tricky for the universe, would it?

I think you mean somniari--dreamers--like Feynriel, right? I could BS my way through and say Vrania had that ability, but she didn't. She was guided, more than anything, to the memories she was seeking.

The Writer's Lounge? I don't think that's the one specifically for competition entries that I previously saw. Is it? Is that the one to use now?

Hey ColorMe, just read your story and loved it. I was enthralled to the very end and what a twist it was! Kudos!

Same here, I thought it was interesting to begin with, seeing how a templar could get deeper and deeper involved...and then it got to the end as I was like :o Really really well-written.

Wah! Thank you! :kissing:

To be honest, I never thought this story would place since DG himself wrote that particular character. Someone told me it was a bold move to go with that. I just couldn't think of anything else I would have liked to submit.

Definitely a bold move, but it worked out really well and the twist at the end really sticks in your head, which is a great thing when you want to stand out among 400 other entries.

Absolutely, even without the twist the story would be great but adding that, well bold or not, you did it :)

Sorry about the double post but since we're still deciding to open or not to open the writer's thread, can I go ahead and do it?
Nice introduction, yada yada yada.
