Ok you're right...but this sentence here. Doesn't that confirm the rest were expendabole and she wasn't? She was the chosen one and quite frankly I don't blame them hating her for that.

I'm not saying she was expendable.

"Do not kill Subject Zero!"

But she was a little girl who absolutely no idea what was happening. She had no contact with anyone else. How could she possibly know or even understand?

Hm?

Jack's identifying attributes:

1.) Easy. Renegade quickie much?

Yes, let's take advantage of the poor girl's desire for a quick rush and inability to form emotional connections with others.

2.) Screwed up. Wah wah wah, I was raised in a lab. Wah wah wah, I ran around with scumbags. Wah, wah, wah.

Your ability to sympathize is astounding.

3.) Bad temper for no apparent reason. Pissy for the sake of being pissy. No real rhyme or reason to instances of pissiness.

Used and abused?  Never had contact with normal society outside of violence?  GEE, PEOPLE'S PERSONALITIES AFFECTED BY THEIR EXPERIENCES?  SINCE WHEN?

Miranda:
1.) Easy. Sexual history could probably fill up the Codex. Gotta get back at daddy somehow?

Oh yes, sl*t-shame harder, you darling little misogynist.  Because clearly women should never have any sexual freedom whatsoever.

2.) Screwed up. My daddy didn't love me enough. Wah wah wah.

Actually, she's surprisingly stable.  Low self-esteem and a slight identity crisis, but hey, abusive parents can do that to you.

3.) Pretentious ******. Tries to look down on things or people. Ruthlessly objectivizing and over-analytical.

So she's a hard-ass, so what?  You expect Cerberus's top operative to let people get sloppy?

The two really aren't that different at all.

Kind of like how apples and oranges are both fruits that grow on trees.  But you know how the saying goes...

You've never done her loyalty mission?  Because that's what Slim's referring to.

Good catch, I've done the LM.  I don't know why I thought he was talking about the romance, probably because I was referring to the eye of the hurricane in regards to seeing Jack for who she is through romancing her.  I believe I did state earlier that you catch glimpses of the real her during the LM though.

My mistake.

As someone with a very rough childhood indeed, Cheez's crusade brings a smile to my face. I have no desire to burden the community (and indeed myself) with specifics but let's just say i appreciate this one.

I can identify with Jack in certain ways. She's a very compelling character for me on a personal level.

It's suggested that I am saying that she was an "expendable experiement that wasn't protected" by the bolded sentence. This is a rather irrelevant point your harping on...

Eh. Jack was a well written character. Just not one I care for.

She wasn't weak. She did manage to survive the crap she went through.

If you don't like her that's fine but saying she's weak is just...inaccurate. A weak person would've laid down and died rather than fight.

Should I provoke I rant or no... ah hell.

If the whole "renegade quickie" was something that happened once or twice, I'd buy it that Jack didn't really know how ...little... she was getting herself into. But I get the impression that she's something of a repeat offender in this regard. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting some sort of magic to happen. And she is screwed up, regardless of what excuses you make for her. Probably beyond repair.

Lol @ sl*t shame. Would you really expect someone to have long lasting and fulfilling relationships if they carry themselves like a dog? It's not about sexual freedom or whatever you would like to call it, it's about foresight and hindsight. Miri's stability is a front. Turn up the heat and the front goes away, exposing the inner psycho. Hard assery is similar in nature to bad temper in that it is something you must "pamper" to counter its effects. Very similar workaround.

And apples and oranges is a terrible analogy.

If you want to boil it down, here's what Jack's "special" treatment worked out to: they didn't subject to her to the stuff they knew was 100% lethal. That's it. She still got to participate in all the really "fun" non-lethal procedures.

Methinks you're wasting your... typing fingers?... AdmiralCheez. Either he's a troll or he just doesn't care, to write stuff like that.

And while I don't overly like Jack, from someone who has worked at a social shelter I can tell you she is all too real. The kind of ''strong'' you describe, that stays unnaffected by the events, just doesn't fit the situation and is far more unrealistic than a person being emotionally ruined by an atrocious childhood if you ask me. She has been used as a lab rat at best since she was conscious. We're not talking about being bullied in school here. She literally had no life beyond being experimented on and being encouraging go feel pleasure when she used violence. Really, I find that she gets over it quite easily over the course of the game.

That's exactly what it is.  It's also why she's not very interested in talking to you after the fact.
