Actually no, what hooked me was the idea of a creator who created these massive, almost omnipotent machines, along with humans. What hooked me was the idea that these machines longed for their creator to return as the humans ruined their world. What hooked me was that these machines thought that killing massive amounts of humans would bring back the maker, but they were unable to do it themselves--so they branded humans and forced them to try to do it.

Yeah okay but that is not what I am talking about, do you know any of what you just said at the start of the game? the point of time you need to hook someone into it? cuz the only thing that hooked me at all in the start is Hope and his needing to man up to kill Snow and who Light  and Sazh are.

And still the machines come off as stupid(the way they act) to me but that is an opinion(for the most part).

That seems to be the general rule of BSN. The trolls never get banned but the anti-trolls who derail troll threads get switfly kicked out.

You never know anything at the start of the game. Or you shouldn't. A good story doesn't lay all the cards on the table immediately, it unveils them slowly and purposefully.

I get that(I am a FFIX fan) and FFXIII did not do it well but I still say it needs to hook you in, something, anything, the hook is what gets us into something and to hope the rest will live up to what we first get and go beyond that.

Again I don't know any of what you said at the start(say chapters 1 to 3) or by chapter 9.

Also be happy FFXIII is better than FFVIII.
