None whatsoever.
Incorrect.
Just blazing through the main story in ME1 leaves out several checks that are referred to to the one or another extent in ME2, so you would be missing something, though there are certainly no major changes.
Additionally, we don't know exactly how ME3 will import savegames and if it will scan profiles more thoroughly for more variables, so a complete playthrough is recommendable if you want to make sure you don't miss out on something.

Most don't have any impact.
Of course, doing all the sidequests will increase your level at the end of ME1 and that can translate into a higher starting level in ME2.

That has nothing to do with completing "majority" of ME - you just need to be aware of which choices matter.Neofelis Nebulosa wrote...

IF those variables stay the same. ME3 might very well scan not only ME2, but also ME1 playthroughs for more variables, meaning that if you only do what's being imported into ME2, you could still miss a good deal of stuff if that happens.
Not too likely, but neither is it impossible.

Actually, that's almost certainly what is being done. I think ME3 is going to be about tyin' up all the lose ends from both games. They've said that ME1 decisions that didn't seem to really impact ME2 may well impact ME3. The Rachni come to mind.Neofelis Nebulosa wrote...

I assume that, if ME1 saves can be imported directly into ME3, defaults will exist for ME2 choices.

Thanks for the quick answers guys. One more question while i'm at it for anyone still around: just got to the prothean orb on eletania. I heard it was tagged for the ME2 save import, does anyone know if it actually was used or if it will be in ME3? Thanks again.
It was tagged on Import, you can look at the saves with an editor and see it. Not used as far as I know in ME2, and there is no way to know about ME3 yet, since it hasn't been released. I would do the quest since it is tagged in ME2.
