Just submitting my entry now! Here's a small sample of "The Interrogation" for you guys.

*******

Entering the cell, the Templar observed the Mage come to from the pommel strike on the head that had rendered her insensible in the first place. She was still in the mid-length gown the templars had captured her in, while she had been bound to a chair and kept under close watch by two of the more senior templars. In spite of all that, she held herself with a proud defiance that the Templar knew would be problematic, and met his gaze as he approached.

*******

Best of luck to everyone!

I just submitted my story: Journal of an Apprentice Chronicler

When two survivors from Kirkwall arrive at the Circle Tower, a young apprentice fears that their arrival heralds imminent disaster as their tale of the Battle of Kirkwall causes a riot in the tower. Unsure as to which side he should take, the young apprentice writes down his daily thoughts and feelings, hoping, perhaps in vain, that he might be able to help preserve peace.

Hello people this is my short bit from my story, hope you enjoy.

His Gwaren

He took a deep breath and sighed heavily, putting up with the winds’ futile yet relentless assaults, he closed his eyes and thought back to how this mess all started all those long years ago. The sounds of the harbour reminded him of home, the gentle sound of the water playfully teasing the concrete walls of the harbour side back and forth, back and forth, all of these sights and sounds reminded him of home in his Ferelden his beloved town of Gwaren, where before he was discovered to be a Mage he lead a very different life, heading up the family business in the harbour with his Father. A business that he could no longer inherit thanks to his “Maker given curse” as he liked to describe it.

“Please,” she said, and lowered her child’s eyes to the frozen dirt, “please.”
But she wasn’t asking for me to let her go back to her family, or for me to release her into this world that she had every right to make a life in; she was asking me to take her to her prison quickly, because she was freezing to death at this icy crossroads where she had come to meet me.
She had accepted her fate so readily.
So why couldn’t I?

The year is 7:52 Exalted, and the second New Exalted March, declared by both the Imperial and Andrastian Chantries, is well underway.   Heron is a mage in the Antivan Circle of Magi, and was a part of the Chantry’s forces that battled the Qunari on the island of Llomerryn.   The majority of the mages in Heron’s Circle have been captured, the Templars that watched over them left dead on the battlefield.   The mages are then brought back to Llomerryn city, where they must submit to the Qun, or die.

 Tears and Blood

Lilim increased her pace, trying to lose her pursuers. They were getting closer each time she looked back - the hard expression in their eyes clearer with every step.
A hand grasped her hair and tugged back hard. She fell back screaming, landing on the ground in a heap. She raised her arms to her face, covered in tears and blood. She could feel them staring at her. There would be no mercy here.

"Please" she whispered, "I've done no harm."
The Templar snickered, lifting the tip of his sword to her cheek. "Prove it."

"Well, I was travelling
through the Hinterland, on the way back from visiting my brother. He's got a
farm up the way." Said the man everyone called Hob. "And that's when
I saw him doing something, it looked dark to me."

"What looked dark?" asked Garet.

"The magic he was doing. He's a mage, and he was doing dark
magic. I mean, not that I know about those things, but it looked dark."

Blade of Mercy

I struggled to think of a time they had not hunted me, haunted me. There was a brief child-hood; memories tinged with adoration for a mother who would bake fruit pie on my name days, kiss me on the nose when I'd been silly and held me in her lap to keep my still in the Chantry, and a small log cottage, little more than a shack but well-kept and warm.

Hello!

Bloodshot
Brief synopsis:
Accused of bloodmagic, Cyrico awaits execution. He doesn't really care; this wouldn't be the first time he dodged death.

Abstract:
Say one thing about waiting for your execution: it sucks. Some pointless ceremony where a templar with a stupid hat accuses you of blood magic while you gaze upon a city of broken citizens clammering over the illusion that they have it better than at least one person. Oh, how Cyrico hated Kirkwall. Every street looked the same, bland. Every vendor sold the same cheap trinkets. All the templars were scum, and all the mages pushovers. Yet there was something alluring about the city that Cyrico could not put his finger on. Something like a calling, maybe similar to what Grey Wardens must go through. To him, the cries were clear: unleash your power.

Glad to be a part of the contest!

sent! :D

It's a Boy

“How many does this make it?” Alistair’s voice was flat, devoid
of the emotion she knew was burning through his chest.

“Eight,” she answered quietly.

The child had been barely ten years old, no doubt dreaming
of puppies, shining knights, and fighting with his little brother. Amell was
sure he never imagined that his parents would slit his throat rather than let
him grow up a mage.

Behind these Walls

9:35 Dragon, 3 Haring

"I no longer dream of my handsome Templar. The idea of him coming to my rescue whenever I am being abused has become irrelevant. I don’t want him, I don’t want anyone. I just want to end my life, to stop the pain. I don’t know how much longer I can stand this..."

Her Message is Committed

All
mages made Tranquil spend their final night with magic alone, penning
a final letter to the world. One nameless mage in 9:40 Dragon
reflects on her decision to accept her fate instead of rebelling. Not
everyone is a fighter. Title and concept were inspired by Emily
Dickinson's poem, “This is my letter to the world.”
