Alistair was intended to be adorable.....

After 9 playthroughs he is not, trust me. He is like that sick puppy your kids dragged in the house and left for you to take care of and however his pissing all around irritates you, you just dont have a heart to throw him out. Or something.

I kinda agree with that statement.. Somewhat..

I don't... But then again I didn't have any qualms about him having to sleep with Morrigan to save our lives nor did I want him to be a king against his own wishes.

I fell in love with Alistair right from the start,

Was disappointed to find out he wasn't available, and settled for Zevron. So not my type, but, well, you know how it is...you kick some butt, get the old adrenaline rush and Alistairs acting all buddy buddy but no go and there's Zevron being all flirty cute and suggestive...well, whats a warrior to do? I suggested a back rub after some of those really difficult boss fights to help Alistair relax but noooo, he just wanted to head back to the camp fire and have a hot milk and brood about his days at Redcliff Castle and his nights in the Templar bunk house. sigh

I gave it some thought, this romancing stuff. I decided I'd like it if every character was available, unless the story required otherwise (like maybe a newly partnered couple-and yes I know even that is not a real world reason) BUT on each play through, there was a random choice of who was NOT available. Sort of add a bit of frustration to the game. All those games where M4M pairings were verboten? hated them. But lusting after Alistair and not getting anywhere? It actually added a bit of depth to the character interaction and game play. You programers will get who you want anyway!

I was just agreeing with the fact the character becomes a little dull after playing through the game a few times.

But then again, that's true for many other characters. :?

Well, the day I discover a way to make a character universally liked by everyone I'll let you know. Until that time, I feel fairly confident that many people found him such.

I like Alistair. I liked his cute nervousness in the first playthrough and in my third playthrough where I romanced him. However I find that he does begin to grate a little in subsequent ones.

Perhaps it's too much of a good thing? Like too much ice cream makes you sick?

David,

I love you in a totally creepy fan sorta way. But it's ok, it's too cold outside to stalk you =P.

Although, it might be worth it if I get more dialog options!

Of course, I'm that stalker that is only interested in making you write dialog, not in the lampost-licking way.

So...gimme more dialog!

Oh and I fell hopelessly in luvs with Alistair first play through and then I got to the ending Zev romance and wow.... I totally don't ever want to romance anyone else!

I adore Alistair because he is so very realistic. He has as many flaws as strengths, yet his likable attributes more than make up for it. Adorable, yes. In romancing him, you truly have to pay attention to him, what he says, and how he reacts, as well as interact frequently if you actually have hopes of keeping anything going.

Much like a real life person. If you don't really listen, you will end up in a very bad situation for both parties. So thankfully, it's not a "once I got you, you're mine, blah blah". You actually have to consciously work.

So, does this console trick just do the same as the Free Love mod then?

Because I'd really like to add the option for romancing Alistair, but I'm wondering what the better option would be, if there even was a diference between the two.

I think it does Nexus, yes, but don't quote me on that.

The lamppost part thing really made me chuckle. When I was in middle school, a really careless guy, the "wild" kid, licked a football goal. Got his tongue stuck for at least 20 minutes, while the entire school gathered around, laughing. Was probably a traumatic experience now that I think of it.

This is not an "option" in the game but simply fiddling with game settings and debug scripts. I don't consider it an achievement in any way. Heck, anyone can run some debug script or change some flag with toolset or some editor and then things will work which didn't before.

Now, if you somehow IN-GAME, through dialogue options and approval points and choices and whatever somehow managed to do it, then I would say "Nice work". I've had myself, more then once, both Leliana and Morrigan as love interests and I did it in game, with gifts - choosing what to give and when, dialogue options - again what and when, their own quests and so on. Without fiddling with any flags or scripts. Haven't "done" male partners as I will never "do" other males (I don't mind people "out there" who like same sex partners, it's their right but keep that stuff away from me personally, is all).

So, all I can say - not impressed, only thing you did was debug/fiddle with game settings, not actually achieved it. Anyone can make a squirrel love a mabari that way. Do it the "right way", through the choices in the game, then I may be impressed, otherwise - bleh.

After reading all the posts here, I am saddened and sickened all the same. This guy did a wonderful job doing the things he did and shared then with the rest of us. He didn't have to do that. Then all you peeps with moral issues come here to flame him for a way that he chose to play his game? I believe he and others payed the money for this game, and I can speak for myself about fantasy. I don't care what a dev says if I want Alistair to be gay, guess what, he is gay. This is my game, my RP experience and the way I want it to be. Take your morality issues, your homophobe hatred someplace else. I honestly think some of you trolls search the forms for the words gay or homosexual just so you can spread your hatred. Get a life and a clue.

What if this game was created just the opposite of what it is? What if all the charters were created gay? What would you come here to complain about then? Or would all the small close minded people that you all are not even purchase it? Plain fact, if you don't want gay/bisexual content there are several ways to avoid it, don't chose the script in game, and don't D/L the content that adds it in game. And most of all keep your small minded opinions out of the forums that contain the content and grow the frak up!

I commend TallBearNC for sharing the things he has found with the community that would enjoy these features in game. Who fraking cares if it is what was intended or not. If you don't want it in your game, don't read the posts about it and don't come here and try to convince others of your ignorance by making anyone think that you are superior, because your only sharing your own ignorance!

Great job TallBearNC and to all others that do what you do!

My, my...so many people here with negative attitudes toward non-straight sex. If you don't want to play with that, fine, then don't. But DON'T put your hang-ups onto the rest of us adults who DO enjoy other flavors than vanilla (watered down crap)!

I love Alistair and I don't think I can get through a day without my 'Alistair fix'.  Posted Image He's such an awesome character...if I'm feeling down all I have to do is go into the game and talk to him, see him smile and all my cares melt away. If I can't play then I think about him...he's like lyrium...addicting...hopefully not bad for the brain, though. LOLPosted Image
