So, about Ashley being c^nts on Virmire and then a sweet heart in her email... How do you reconcile that with how head over heels she was over Shepard in ME1, and will undoubtedly confront him in ME3? It'll ring a little hollow, no?

Yup, ignorancy and fear are very real. Very powerful ways of manipulation, worse is that they complement each other.

I'm not ignorant or fearful but prepared and in an event where the crap hits the fan I won't be caught off guard like some will. Hiding your heads in the sand and explaining things away won't help you in the long run.

Oh, please. The viewpoint you're buying into was created by a bunch of college students with video editing software who constantly shift their views when refuting evidence is shown to them.

Oil? No **** it was about oil. The world runs on it, and if the main region of the world that supplies the world's economy were to implode into sectarian violence (like some muslims sects have been doing since the inception of the religion, well before America) then the new world would be a very dark place indeed. Alternative energy? We need current energy sources to develope it. Like it or not, the world still runs on oil.

Funny, that when someone mentions a "war for oil" the topic of the Iraq war is still instantly brought up, and the recent crisis in Libya (with swift military action by the Euros) is never given its due. Oh no, it was an awful dictator that needed to be overthrown and the enslaved masses liberated, not that Libya was a major supplier of European oil... Sound familiar? Granted that operation was a bit more successful, outwardly, but I suppose time will tell.


Ehm... oh, Ashley. She makes poetry and people don't like it because poetry isn't considered "cool" anymore. That's why.

I agree... being a paid killer, trained psychopath and with no brain it's not on my list.

Paid killer? An Infantry Lieutenant gets paid $52,000 a year. Not bad, but not particularly great either. If you're after good pay, you don't join the military, that's a no brainer.

Trained psychopath? Do you understand just how much psychological testing you have to undergo just to get in? I'm only halfway through the recruitment process, and practically every facet of my personality has been thoroughly analysed. And once you get in, you are regularly monitored. The military doesn't want killing machines, they want smart, disciplined soldiers. Oh sure, some go bad sometimes. But it's war that does that to them, not their training.

No brain? Too smart to join? University degrees and trade qualifications are required and paid for by the military, with only the top percentages being accepted. All high school records are thoroughly examined. Many fighter pilots are physics experts. A tank crew can disassemble a complex machine engine and repair it with only limited parts. Infantrymen are trained to follow, true, but they are also trained to lead, to have initiative, and to make the right decisions. US, British, and Australian Special Forces operators have to achieve at least a Level Three proficiency in at least one language before they can be deployed, with many choosing to learn more than one.

You really couldn't be more wrong.

Those were the Muslims. Muslims and Jews have fought and killed eachother literally since the dawn of man. 
Muslims are not terrorists. 

And Isreal is NOT innocent. Both sides have serious blood on their hands.

Trained to serve, protect, and defend-check. (Not saying this doesn't involve killing, but that's part of the job).
Trained to judge a situation, and react appropriately. All soldiers feel remorse. What do you think PTSD is? The ones that soldiers pity are the innocents that the bad guys (in this case the Taliban, who murder civillians) kill.
Trained to folllow orders instantaneously, so that failing to do so doesn't get someone else killed. There is a time and place for everything, and questioning orders in the middle of a firefight isn't a good idea.

In the ancient courts of the Muslim caliphates, the Jews were the most respected citizens. They were the court philosophers, doctors, and wise men. From what I have studied of Islam, it seems like a decent enough religion. But in the 1950s, extremists decided to declare war on Israel, and that war has never ended.

Muslims have not existed since the dawn of man, they've existed for less than 2000 years.

Israel has aggressively defended itself against all attackers, sometimes unjustly. It is a bitter fight for survival where everyone is losing. But Israel has at least tried to help the peace process. They surrendered all of the Gaza Strip, only to receive hundreds of rockets fired from the territory that they surrendered.
