*shrugs*
A woman tends to be hostile towards another woman if she believes she could want to get into her lover's pants.
It has to do with jealousy. Not every woman lashes out against her competitor - they still feel bad or so.

And actually, a romanced Ashley tells Shepard he should look for Liara if she's fine (after Benezia's death).

Just for the record. I'd say Ashley is a jealous type while Liara ... and any other Asari I guess ... don't even know jealousy. At least not in the same way like humans.

But she still says that even if you didn't romance Ash, so that would be ****ing for the sake of it, which is not good. And about her saying that you should look  how Liara is doing after Noveria, well it was nice to hear her saying that, but still she kept ****ing like with that "Who has put you  in command?". Liara was only suggesting.<_<

Hmm, okay, that's just a guess, but maybe Ash had feelings for Shepard even if not romanced? Whatever. Yeah, Ashley lashes out a bit too much against Liara. However, I doubt it's caused by Liara's race. Looks as if Ashley simply doesn't like her that much. Maybe it's the lack of trust: as I said before, Ashley doesn't trust easily, regardless if alien or human.

Whatever. I think at the end of ME1 they were pretty much okay. I wonder if Ash & Liara will go along in ME3 ... maybe yes, maybe no. In case they do I'm happy, if they don't like each other I have to accept.

That's definitely something I consider as one of her flaws, but it fits. Liara is the daugther of someone with Saren and Shepard seems to trust her without a second guess, something that would bother Ashley since she's definitely not quick to trust, especially aliens. With that you should consider her very emotional/passionate personality and I think that should explain why what she says is more a heated reaction of mistrust or a protective wall. The mindmelding probably helped with that too, I mean, something so intimate must seem a pretty indecent to a human that hasn't witnessed it before.

What I'm really trying to say is, that she might not really be as mean to her she sounds, which finally shows in that line about checking up on Liara. And I think part of her anger has to do with Shepard, because he's so quick to trust her.

About the poetry, I don't get why people hate her for it at all. She likes poetry, maybe you don't, so what? I think it might be like V-rex said though, that unfortunately anything she does is immediately considered as repulsive by some people.

Just admit you are an Ashely apologist, seriously, I have never seen you say anything negative about her.

Stardusk: I could say something. Like I didn't like her reaction on Horizon. It's understandable, but I don't like it. Also I don't like Shepard's stupid lines there ...

And overall I would not like Ashley at all if BW would have done the same character twist with her like with Liara.

So to speak. There are flaws in Ashley's character. Most of them are ... not significant enough to be a real issue. Sudden character chances like BW did with Liara are major issues.

Hypothetical situation:

Let's say that you are a WW2 soldier who lost all of his units against german. Then you met the hypothetical son of Hitler. He says that he hasn't seen his father in years  (before the war).

Will you trust him or be nice to him, the son of  of the man responsible of the death of your friends?

Ashley has all the rights to distruts Liara in the first meeting. She is the daughter  of Saren's right hand. Saren is responsible of the death of all of her unit on Eden Prime.

And about horizon:

Either BW want the VS be an antagonist (forcing to hate them) or they did that dialogue very poorly.

Shepard doesn't have any good lines to convince Ashley. Horizon is one of the thing that should be redone.
By example read the final part from this chapter from LuxDragon fanfiction "Fight for the Lost." He handled the Horizon meeting far better than in the game.

 So yeah....this reasonment is so flawed....so because of WW2 let's distrust all Germans even people that are innocent and have the misfortune of being affiliated with criminals. Only stupid people generalize. Plus Benezia was indoctrinated not fully conscious

To answer your question it's no I would not trust hypothetical son of Hitler  I would probably attack him, and tie or chain him up. I think she dislikes alien after what happen to her grandfather, and then what happen on Eden Prime.

Even aliens that have no history with her and are innocent....she is generalizing....in my country this is called racism

Even if Hitler's son is being attacked by german soldiers? But yeah, I wouldn't trust him but I wouldn't ask my superior if he wants me to ask him about his sexual life or tell him to shut up when he makes a suggestion. Trust=/= bit.ching for the sake of it.

The same is applied with Benezia, not to  mention that she was indoctrinated....so not quite in full possession of her will

Read what skullheart said again....Where was distrust all germans mentioned?

Anyway, I like how you generalize people who generalize under stupid...Maybe a person can be heavily influenced by what they've been through, or what they've been taught all their lives? Why not look beyond the cover before you judge? Is Ashley xenophobic, or has she been taught to be xenophobic? You can convince her of a much less xenophobic stance in ME1 afterall. Why not look underneath the peel before you condemn?

But you are willing to let a totally stranger looking information about your past, and asking abou your relations with other screw members.

@MassStorm
Your first post in this topic was calling Ashley a racist. I don't think that you really understand Ashley so I won't waste time answering you. If some criminal kill your friends, will you be friendly with his son?

Be nice dude sentence like this "so i won't waste my time answering to you" makes you really unpolite not to say worse

Second yes if i like a person i would be friend with him/her provided he/she is sorry for what happened. Sons/Daughters of criminals are innocent like every other person, stigmatization is plain stupid. So i confirm my idea Ashley generalizes so she is racist

Looking information in a public biography like Shepard's one? If the biography is public is meant for strangers to look at it, so no problem with that. And Liara only asks about your relations with other crew members if you talk to her, and that would mean you have a friendship with her, so she wouldn't be a stranger then.

I think she might be a racist but its more her limited world view that bothers me, whereas Liara can see beyond the horizon, Ashley is just a simple Alliance grunt with limited perspective, no offence to Grunt (whom I love).

Liara said it best

Shepard: Honestly I am tired of it all. Tired of working with Cerberus, tired of the council not believing in me, tired of my closest friends(no shepard!) not trusting in me.

Liara: Yes, I heard about what Ashley said on Horizon. But their shortsightedness dosen't diminish your accomplishment.

So like she said Ashley is incredibly short sighted.

My only guess is perhaps people weren't expecting her to randomly start quoting it while engaged in simple conversation. I mean if someone suddenly started saying all the lyrics to the song 'April Sun in Cuba' in the middle of a conversation people might get wierded out too.

Pretty much this.
I really like Ashley as an overall character, but the random poem reciting just didn't fly with me, considering I've never been much of a poetry enthusiast.

Its flat out annoying. The way she spouts poetry.

The funny part she isn't the only poetry loving squadmate.

JACK, Yes! Jack likes poetry and Kasumi But they don't spout it out like broken recorder. They keep it to themselves as it should be.
