Early on in the thread I saw someone trying to explain why Ashley was attacking liara so much and was putting a romance spin on it.
I disagree. There are plenty of reasons to distrust liara. Aside from the obvious daughter of an enemy combatant who has done nothing to show her trustworthiness AT ALL to shep or anyone. The only thing known about her is that she is seen as a liability by saren or her mother, and even then we only have liara's word that she hasn't been in contact with her mother and not just faking innocence or something.
To top that liara also accesses SHEPS MIND. How many alliance secrets are locked away inside sheps head? If liara was a spy, that is a pretty big damn security risk. On top of that asari have a reputation to be seductive and sexually forward (even if it is just rumor) so ashley might see an alien potential agent sexing up the first and only human spectre as a rather bad thing.
Honestly ashley isn't racist she's paranoid. I would be too. Having quarian (a species known to steal resources and disrupt economy and inhibiting space travel in systems) sleeking around the MOST ADVANCED SHIP IN THE ALLIANCe a bad thing, a krogan mercenary a species known best for its brutality and bloodlust, a turian a species which came very close to turning human into a client race, not to mention being the species that caused her fathers "legacy" (and although relations are getting better ashley knows that turians, like any other entity is looking out for numero uno) I don't get why people misunderstand her so much.
If anything her point of view makes shep look like an idiot at least initially. His plan works, but it would be like a U.S. soldier actively working with russians and chinese and getting annoyed that his subordinate has reservations about letting them on their brand new advanced warship.
