this was said four months ago is there any new information about this or a possible release date. is this going to be woven into the main story or tacked on to a dlc short story. I love the idea and I hope we see it but I get a feeling this will likely be shelved for DA3.

I totally hate it. It breaks immersion. It's abstract and symbolic rather than tangible. Moving DA2 yet another step into a drivel push-the-button-console anime game, which is the brilliant plan I gather. The character's visuals should be under player control and also correspond to and give visual clues about what is worn.
This **** attitude belongs in an old scrolling shooter or platformer, not in a modern RPG.

P.S. Big reason behind my bad attitude to this, is that I disagree about all that "iconic look" and "identity" philosophy. It's not the mindset with how you should approach the design of  a party-cRPG, in my opinion. There's something fundamentally wrong going on.

I am inclined to agree, although the current armor designs need to be redone. Well, the ones from DA: O, anyway.

Other than that, I think something that was touted prior to DA2 being released should be in the game: companions choosing their own armor. This was not the case in DA2, but I recall hearing/reading (right after DA2 was announced, so quite a while ago) that your companions would choose their own armor. I think that would be awesome. I mean, how much sense does it really make that the companions, each with their own tastes and intrests and personalities, would just accept the (probably used) set of old armor you're giving them? I think that you, the player shouldn't really have an impact on what they wear. If the companions really have their own character/personality, they would be able to decide for themselves what they do and do not want to wear.

Now, the player could find armor for them, and give it to them like a gift.
Player: "Hey, I found this armor, do you want it?"
Companion: "No thanks, it's not really for me." Or "Sure, it looks pretty good, and I like how its been enchanted!"

Something like that would really add to the game, I think.

Not only that, but if the PC tries to give a companion his old armor the companion would say Why would I want your old hand me downs or I will take it, but you could have gotten the dents remove before you gave it to me.

It depends.  If you gave your old armor to a romanced Anders, he'd probably keep smelling it when you weren't looking and declare ten times a day how much he cherishes your gift to him.

I want my companions to look cooler over time, to have better armor over time. What is the sense of finding all that great armor or buying all that great armor if you can't wear it, your companions can't wear it, and you can only get a copper if you sell it. I hated that about this game. There was so much armor that really would have looked good on my companions that no one got to wear, not even me because I was not a {insert rogue, mage or warrior here}. Very frustrating.

Exactly, it annoyed the heck out of me.

I think if they hadn't spent so much time putting useless items in barrels, crates, sacks, and chests, and having so much unusable armor, they would have been able to spend more time and money getting the inventory done the way it was in DA:O, and even improving it. I don't mean to sound like I didn't like the game itself, the plot, dialogue, banter, and quests were good, imo, and I loved the npc characters. It was just the skimping on details, especially the armor, that bothered me.

Not only they look different on every race, but also on gender.

I'd rather the look of armor remain consistent in that regard. A suit of armor suddenly becoming stripper-wear when my character puts it on would not make me happy. I hated the leather armor in DA:O that gained a magical hole of belly showing on female characters.

So one would have to buy the entire outfit to upgrade and could not interchange pieces from two different sets? So if a piece of an outfit were found it could not be worn until the entire outfit is found? No armor could be found off of foes that are defeated. just other equipment. Do I have the gist of what you are saying?

Actually, no, my idea was that each individual piece could be rotated in and out. Outfits would have certain set bonuses, but they could be combined for a visual or build combonation as desired.

Granted, they'd still have to create armor for mooks and NPCs, but I feel like that is something they would have to do regardless?

By the way... is that a female dwarf on the bottom right? That's... not really making a lot of sense.

I was not saying that the armor should change when equipped on female characters.

Was just an example on how they could change armor when they are used by diferent characters to match their style, the iconic look they want.
