To start with: I am not sure if this is beacuse I am doing it on my own server, or if it won't let me do it on anyone's server.

I just purchased this game for my brother and myself and I cannot join his game due to the firewall settings. Whenever I go to make my game, it starts out fine. I get to the character creation screen and after a few moments, it crashes and gives me the Windows Error Report box.

What should I do? I have tried searching online but I cannot find anything worthwile that is helping my cause. Thank you to whomever helps me out!

Might help if you told us what the error message is, as well as some detail of what kind of character you're trying to make (does it happen with every choice you try or just with some?).

My spy software is doing a patch update right now so I can't remotely observe what's happening on your computer for another 4 hours.

There is no error message that appears when it crashes. During the character creation, the sound starts to skip for a second or two and then it just crashes altogether. The Windows Error Reporter just says Neverwinter Nights 2 has stopped working. Then for the description is says that a problem caused it to stop so Windows is shutting it down and will notify me if a solution is available.

As far as trying it with other races, I am not sure. I am going to go test that out and respond back again.

The character I was trying to make originally was a Hellfire Warlock so I started with the Yuan-ti Pureblood. This time I just sat in the Character Creation menu for a minute without making any characters and it crashed again.

With this being said, I am going to assume it is just the multiplayer functionality on my own server that won't let me play, but I cannot connect to any servers just yet so I will try that soon. I was continually getting the "behind a firewall" response, so give me a little bit to try again.

-Edit: I tried making my own server again, and this time I did another module pack, etc. and I went to the Pre-Made characters and had the same affect... crash!
