i know that he doesn't want to be king
but he agrees that loghain sucks and that he doesn't want anora
so there are no alternatives
and he still got mad at me :(

on a different note
can anyone except a human noble become queen?

Because he's a whiner.

Cause he's not a leader.

He's the senior member of the Gray Wardens, yet he followed you around like a puppy dog through the whole blight.

Please edit your title. Titles are supposed to be spoiler free.

Alistiar is sad for two reasons:
1. He doesn't want to be king
2. His fellow Grey Warden doesn't give a pig's **** about him, but simply sees him as a tool to gain power.

I decided to not make him king and he was quite pleased with that arrangement in the end although I still took a -10 hit for persuading him into Anora being the queen... He's just never satisfied with anything.

He has always hated his blood, he prefers to follow, not lead. Not to mention he rather live his life his way, not being force to do something.

I tried to make Anora queen and Alistair king, at the same time, he seemed unhappy, but accepted his role, once I speared Loghain he got mad at me, that guy just has no idea what he wants :)

Because unlike most obese, pimple-ridden video-game-playing nerds, he has some anxieties concerning his ability to lead and realizes that making decisions that affect thousands of people's lives is a responsibility that is not be taken lightly.

But I'm sure all the obese, pimple-ridden video-game-playing nerds were born ready to be the leaders of nations. Not like anyone here would have any anxieties, second thoughts, doubts, etc.

Here's the short answer:
Why is Alistair sad when you make him King?
-- Because he is human.

You can try the Anora Rules Alone ending...and Alistair can live happily everafter as a Grey Warden or something like that.....Just Got Done reading about it in DAO gaming guide.

Actually I always got the impression that Alistair alway knew exactly what he wanted which is why he is mad when you make him king.

If you harden him through his personal quest he will declare himself King at the landsmeet

This.

Harden him and he's not sad, instead he becomes more confident in himself and realizes all of the good he can do as king, later becoming as great a king his father was.

everyone, read my post before you post

i said "i know that he doesn't want to be king"

the reasons are obvious

however, he gets mad at you for making the decision that he himself says was right, and you have no opportunity to show him that he is contradicting himself

because you can ask him if he thinks you should have chosen someone else and he says no but then you still lose 6 approval points with him which seems kinda contradictory

I'll always be left wondering how people who take on darkspawn frontally and happily sacrifice their lives so that others can survive can be called "crybaby" and "whiny".

Probably because, if you spare Loghain, he's no longer willing to do any of the things you mentioned.

I'm pretty sure that 99 % of the people calling him a whiner would whine much more if you'd just joke about one of their recently deceased family member. I don't even talk about killing the said member yourself.

Let's say he's a video game character, and people have standard with them that have absolutely nothing in common with the standards toward actual people.

At least I *hope*.

It amazes me how anyone who has seen the part where Loghain is spared can have 1 redeemable comment about poser baby Allistair. That poser acts all good and honorable and decent and just the perfect honorable guy, he promises to love you, he promised Duncan he would try to end the Blight, in becoming a Grey Warden he promised this as well, but all his promises of love, loyalty, and honor go out the window when that sniveling little cry baby doesn't get his way. Seriously we are about to face an entire army of darkspawn and an arch demon with only 3 Grey wardens. Making Loghain a warden makes the most sense, place his muscly experienced steel between death and us and Allistair runs away on the night of battle to get drunk in a foreign land.

I say again Total poser. He should have showed up during the final fight to take the death blow that would have been more in character for Alistair up until Landsmeet as it stands He is a total douche and Zev is THE MAN.

I don't get all the Alistair hate. I thought he was a very believable character. Easily the best bioware bromance, imo. Of course, he doesn't have much in the way of competition. I never liked the other "buddy" characters like Carth or Kaidan.

Zev and man in the same sentence, there is a mistake somewhere.

Alistair is not a leader. And he don't trust him enough. He just want a family, and peace. Hapiness is not the same thing than power.

He doesn't polish his blade enough. Ask Oghren.
