He is a fictional character in a video game whining about story event.
And, you people are whining about a fictional character IN REAL LIFE.

Uh, so what exactly is justice for a guy who rewarded the man who had your family slaughtered (if you're a Cousland)...
Only, he didn't. That was solely the work of his right hand man.
...enslaved your people (if you're an elf)...
Which he didn't do either. Elves have been second class citizens for centuries at this point in the story.
Edit: Okay, so he literally sold off some of the City Elves, forgot about that bit there for a moment. However, considering the general stance of the average man on the street with regards to Elves, I'd honestly not consider that a major crime within the story context. They lost their war with the humans, they're suffering the consequences. If they had spines, they'd join the Dalish.
...almost destroyed the Circle of Magi (or totally destroyed it)...
Well, he did do that, but his plan had nothing to do with destroying it and everything with controlling it. That said, considering that the Circle is essentially a gulag for the Mages, it's debatable whether it isn't better off destroyed.
He kind of did the rest, but admittedly after hearing two or three lines out of Cailan, I can honestly completely understand why Loghain did it. Cailan was very obviously a fool. The country is probably better off without him. The ends don't justify the means, but unless we can safely answer the question whether Loghain's forces entering battle would have secured victory at Ostagar, I'm thinking he did the smart thing by not letting his guys get pointlessly slaughtered.

A game is a form of media, a form of expression. This one just so happens to be well written enough to inspire discussions about it. You come in here and whine on the very boards where the "whining" takes place. Which obviously bothers you. Yet here you are, contributing yourself, and telling them to get a life.
I wouldn't say whining on a video game board about whiners, of all things, when people are infact using boards for what they are for, qualifies as having a life yourself.
Hypocrite.

If so, are you admitting yourself been a bigger whiner than Alistair, yes?
If not, why call me a hypocrite when you disagree with me?
I agree Alistair is a well written video game character.
And that interest me enough to see why people whine about him on the fourms.
And that is why I am here to voice what I think about fourmites who whine about Alistair been a whiner.
So why is it when I voice my thoughts is a hypocrite act?
Please enlighten me Oh-so-not-hypocrite-one.

I am sorry, did I offend you in my post?
Hardly, just pointing about the obvious flaw in whining about people whining. Especially with the oh so high and mighty attitude and requires you to remind everyone that none of it's real. As if anyone was under the impression that it was. I wouldn't be at all suprised if you can't even imagine where I'm coming from. So I won't take this any further as It doesn't belong here.

Loghain allowed Arl Howe to commit atrocities, effectively condoning his actions. He may not be the one to get his hands dirty, but he stood by without stopping it.
Loghain defied the Chantry by preventing the Templars from getting at Jowan, then forcing Jowan into poisoning Arl Eamon.
The timing of many of the things Loghain or his underling Arl Howe did were initiated BEFORE the battle of Ostager. This strongly suggests that Loghain HAD planned to withdraw from the field. He WANTED the Grey Wardens (whom he saw as linked to Orlais) to be destroyed by the darkspawn, and he was ready to sacrifice hundreds of Feralden soldiers (the Grey Wardens were but a handful, so the bulk of the army must be drawn from the common soldiers) including King Calian. In fact, Loghain may have counted on Calian dying at Ostager; Calian would have punished Loghain severely if he was able to link the poisoning of Arl Eamen to him. He didn't even look Anora in the eye when she challenged him about his role in Calian's death.
I do not think Loghain had any liking for Arl Howe. Instead, Loghain needed a second to do all the dirty work. Ser Cauthrien was too honorable (you can persuade her to step aside at the Landsmeet), so he used the self-serving Arl Howe and rewarded Arl Howe by letting him do as he pleased.

it is obvious that he wanted cailan to die
bioware always spoils all its plot twists because it shows people with devious expressions right before they do something evil
it did exactly that with loghain, jowan, and others
