Bioware social Network is the only place where I can discuss my opinions and feelings toward fictional characters and how they've effected me in my own life (for example, it was my liking of the character Ashley Williams that convinced me to be more open minded about religion and people's faith) where I don't feel like a wierdo.
Or maybe I do still feel feel like a wierdo, but I'm wierdo among friends.

Both groups are heaps better than the Tali and Miranda fans. At least Ashley/Kaidan fans work and don't leech state welfare.
State welfare? did I miss something?

Uhh, no, Sir.
They're just enjoying their fave character. Like everyone does.
I couldn't place a vote.
Uhh and yes, I do love Ashley as a character. She's one of my all-time faves, next to "Data" from Star Trek for example ^^

Dude, no offence but your love for Ash is a bit pathological. I like characters too but I can't nachvollziehen it when it gets too obsessive.

Dunno. She's just a great character that receives a lot of hate by people who simply don't take the time to get beyond a buggy line "animals & aliens" and the "dog and bear" analogy.
Whatever, Stardusk. Think there are a lot more obsessive guys here. No name calling.

Now on topic, I'd say Kaidan fangirls are the creepiest one. So much obsession is not healthy.

We are just having fun, it's not like we have shrines to him in our bedrooms.
I do have a real boyfriend so does that help?

Hah, I've always wondered if your name was a reference to Data.

Yup. I made him a Captain since he deserves to be one. Too bad he died to early.
Data is one of my all-time favorites since that incredible character development in the series. Brent Spiner did a great job here and Data somehow was more human than some of the other characters.
Anyone here who calls me an obsessive Data-fan? Yes, Sir, I am!

It's not name calling. I mean I like lots of characters too but I can see their faults. I have never seen you say, well Ashley does this and that is something I don' t like about her. I can do that for every ME character, tally up their good points and bad points but then again I don't really have a favourite per se.

Yup, Spiner was extraordinary as Data. Great performance. So many good episodes. Favorite character in TNG right there.

I've yet to see an Ashley or Liara blow-up doll. And even if there is, I'm quite sure the nerds' room is hella more tidy.

Uhh, I do see Ashley's faults. Some of them are more visible then others. Her attitude towards aliens irritated me first. I didn't pick Liara with my first playthrough because I simply wasn't that much in that "hero gets sexy alien trope". My Shepard isn't Captain Kirk
Think the affection towards Ashley grew over time in that playthrough and since then I never romanced any other character, because I enjoyed Ashley's romance arc enough.
I do see Ashley's faults - however, I don't like how people exaggerate minor flaws.
Ashley is reserved towards aliens ---> racist !!!
Ashley is mentioning a Creator God ---> religious zealot !!!
Ashley is using quotes from Tennyson ---> booooooring & annoying !!!
Ashley is wearing her hair like my grandma ---> UGLY !!!
That kinda irks me.
Not liking a character is okay to me, it's a matter of taste. Exaggerating minor flaws to major issues just to prove why one doesn't like that character is ... dunno. It doesn't work.
Just for the record: I like Liara
