Don't see this text as something "good". Style is mediocre, the idea is good, though it is used badly...

Only good information wise...

Yes.  Reading a whole 608 words is sooooo burdensome.

Great blog, except for the "buying equipment" thing. It's a galactic war for survival and there's still a money-based economy? Seriously? And people are selling you stuff ON YOUR OWN SHIP? You, Commander Shepard, widely known as a Reaper killer?

Huh?

I'm kind of surprised to find anyone astonished by this. Mass Effect has made it pretty obvious (at least to me) that the galaxy's economy is largely based on Capitalism. Noveria and Illium in particular are really big clues, as well as the Citadel itself. Not to mention the colony on Feros (and presumably others) was funded by Exo-Geni, a seemingly major corporation. There's even an entire species, the Volus, dedicated to it...

I could go on, there are litterally dozens of corporations mentioned throughout the series, from the heavily regulated Synthetic Insights to Elanus Risk Control Services, a private security firm. Some are portrayed as thoroughly corrupt, others are not (or at the very least they're portrayed in a neutral light).

It took me awhile to get that as non-political as I could... Staying on topic though, I'm impressed with what all was mentioned in this blog, in particular the line about squadmates interacting and the quartermaster. I'm assuming the only reason Kelly Chambers is not mentioned is because, like everyone else, she isn't garaunteed to make it through ME2.

Why waste ressources making a video, when you could just put a writer spend a half-hour wrttting this ? It's a cheap way to do this and I doon't see why it needs a video announcement.

We'll find out the answers to these questions and more on the next episode of Dragon Bal...I mean Mass Effect 3!

"Saren has reached the Citadel's main control unit. For the past three episodes he's been fiddling around with all of its buttons while Shepard has squared off with not one but two geth armatures. Now that Garrus' hidden superpower, the Kamesniperha, has awakened, will the duo's combined power be enough to thwart Sovereign's evil plans before it's too late? And will the Fifth Fleet, currently stationed at a tropical resort in Honolulu, arrive in time to help? Or will Admiral Hackett's weakness for scantily-clad women and margaritas be the Alliance's undoing? Find out on the next Dragon Effect 3!"

Oh, get back to work, you! :D

Mass Effect would make an excellent shounen anime. After all, we all know that Shepard is a tsundere for Cerberus.

EDIT: Linky proving it.

Clearly. Obviously.

And I'm leaving for work in ten minutes. Been having entirely too much fun typing long, drawn-out statements on my phone in the meantime. Now my hands will hurt for hours on end, but I can honestly say it was worth it.

Do you think any government would charge their solders with money for their equipment when fighting a very powerful foe that will destroy all civilization?

LOL I can just see it.

"That'll be $259.99."

"Crap, I'm 10 cents short."

"Sorry buddy.  I'm not running a charity here."

Civilization ends.

Shepard may well be a Spectre. Spectres are supposed to be independent enough to get their own equipment and resources. You have one Spectre aboard your vessel anyway. I doubt the Council necessarily gave their spectres a ****load of equipment (other than ships) to fight the Krogan and Rachni. Remember Mordin wasn't kidding when talked about STG getting better funding than Spectres.

I can actually hear the Dragon Ball narrator saying all this in my head as I read.

Seems pretty obvious to me that it's this way due to gameplay mechanic restrictions. If the Quartermaster was free (again, from a gameplay stance), then you'd have little reason to use any other store unless his inventory was severely limited to the point that he'd be virtually useless. I for one have no problem with it working the way it does ingame.

Edit: I seem to recall this being a complaint with the Quartermaster on the original Normandy in ME1 now that I think about it. I just don't see that it's a problem...
