Does anybody know if the EA Value Games retail version also has the dreaded securom drm or if they perhaps removed it from this version?

This is the version I'm talking about

I don't know what all is wrong with it, but that version has caused more problems than any other disk-based version, with the typical result of having to uninstall and replace it with a no-charge digital copy from the Origin download system.

AFAIK every version on the planet has Securom except for Polish version (which was published by CD-Projekt here and they negotiated removal of Securom) so I'm one of the few very lucky people :D

The Steam version doesnt, and is quite often on sale for $5-10. Steam is its own for of DRM.

I have the Value Games version. After you install it, delete the paul.dll file that it puts in the install directory, and it'll change the DRM to a simple disc check -- You NEVER need to be online. It's completely legal to do this, and it works great.

In response to earlier posts, I've NEVER had a single problem with the Value Games version.
