All my characters got one. Even my fem Shepard and she was a racist and was never kind to Liara. Still, Liara came and said she had feelings for her and my Jane put her down HARD. And STILL she came with Kaiden and said we have to work this out.
Did anyone NOT get a LI confrontation?

I have only gotten the confrontation once in my dozen or so ME1 playthroughs. And I really had to metagame for that.

I've had it a few times, with both Ash and Kaidan, but it's more common for me not to get it

I have read somewhere, that picking Renegade option is bugged, and still triggers the romance - as opposed to "neutral" option of Shepard just wanting to be friends with Liara (that one works fine, and doesn't trigger the romance) - I picked it (the neutral one) last playthrough (as male Shepard, romancing Ashley), and didn't have the confrontation between them.

Got the confrontation on my first playthrough, when I wasn't trying to romance Ashley (then in the first playthrough where I did try I somehow failed, which makes me feel pretty stupid).

I've been trying to get the LI confrontation in my current ME1 playthrough - FemShep romancing Kaidan/Liara - but having completed Virmire (I saved Kaidan, natch 
) last night - and bearing in mind I'd confirmed they were both on the romance path a) by checking their 'I'd like that'/'Goodbye, Shepard' end dialogue and 
taking them both dancing at Flux's before going to Virmire - I didn't get the confrontation scene after the Council debrief. Not sure where I went wrong; I collected Liara after Feros so possibly I was a plot world behind where I ought to have been? I'd exhausted all Kaidan's post-mission conversations and only had Liara's 'I'm only 106/a virgin' conversation pending but whenever I completed that it automatically broke Kaidan's romance (he switched to 'Commander' as his end dialogue line) but without completing it, it was Kaidan who came to Shepard after the Council grounded her. In the end, I bit the bullet, Shepard had the Liara conversation and dumped Kaidan. Wish she could have done it to his face though. Can't really see what I could/should have done differently except going Therum first.

I told Liara right away that I just wanted to be friends (I just saved her and she was already feeling my animal magnetism). Never had a confrontation after that. I also said I was just friends with Kaidan..but yeah, I just couldn't stop myself from being friendly. So instead him suckering him in, I suppose I was the one who ninjamanced him
