Gold Filigree Charm

Obviously I’m doing something wrong. As apparently I’m a complete idiot and don’t understand this crafting thing, can anyone provide me with extremely detailed step-by-step instructions on how to do this?
Alternately, considering I’m already kind of going the “cheating” route, is there an item spawn code for this?

Have Sand cast Darkness on the Table.
Make sure (1) the items and nothing but the items are in the table (no stacks of essences, for example); (2) Sand (or whoever casts Darkness) actually has the Craft Wondrous Items Feat.
If someone has the Feat but not the spell (Elanee, for example), they should be able to use as scroll of Darkness on the table. You also might be able to get Ammon Jerro to do it if he has the Feat - NOT with his Warlock darkness invocation, though, but with Imbue Item (never tried it, but it might work).

1 Faint Power Essence
1 Glowing Fire Essence
1 Star Sapphire
1 Gold Necklace
The Darkness Spell (which is available to bards, clerics, sorcerers, warlocks and wizards)
You'll have to use the nearby magician's workbench (#17) to craft the charm, and the crafter will need to have the wondrous items crafting feat. If you don't have the crafting feats and skills on your character, then you can use a companion to create the charm.

I did this but there’s nothing but the original reagents in the table. Is something else supposed to happen?

A couple possibilities come to mind: when you spawned the essence with the console, you actually get a stack of 99; you have to separate out one. Also, be sure it's the Magician's Workbench, not the Alchemist's Workbench. Third, close the console (debugmode 0); it interferes with some things (notably triggers) and it might be blocking your clicking on the bench. Other than that - what kevL said.

Have you actually spoken with Ammon to get the 'Mephasm Quest', or are you trying to create the charm from acquiring the recipe via another source (i.e. outside the game)?
I'm not sure it is absolutely required (as I haven't tried myself), but my belief is that you need to have spoken with Ammon to get the Quest before the gold filigree charm is able to be crafted.
