I also wanted to reassure people that the preorder items are balanced properly.  After putting so much effort into the other weapons, we didn't want to negate all that work by making the preorder guns OP.  I think Corey and Boldwin did a great job with them.  They fit into the arsenal well without making other weapons obsolete.

I'm very happy to hear this.   I always hate seeing the effort put into designing a gun wasted by the addition of weapons that render them obsolete,  the ME2 Avenger being a prime example.

Brennon told me they are planning to let you keep it all for NG+ run

Also very pleased to hear this.  Losing all our upgrades in ME2's NG+ mode inverted the difficulty
curve making the start of the campaign way harder than the end.   I'm glad they addressed that.

Remember that all the leaked info was old, so this list isn't completely accurate.

Having said that, it's great to see everyone getting excited about the new weapons.  A lot of love was put into the design and balance of ME3's arsenal, and I personally can't wait to see what new favorites emerge.  The sheer number of available weapons and mods results in a super deep customization system, so I fully expect to see everyone running around with wildly different setups come March.

After reading the list we definitely need a testing area for all this weapons to choose from

That's a really good idea!  B)

 I like the sound of the weapon balance.

And on the idea of a Testing Area, yes please!

Sorry I missed a rather recent one, I had to leave my PC and stopped in the middle of looking through the google search.
And I did say on the same wave length. :bandit:

At any rate, I'm just glad that many are of like mind on the idea! ^_^

Someone with Mass, Thanks for the info!

Question:  Will the Widow be available from the armory once you reached the Normandy?  I liked that SR, but hate the fact that my most favourite class can't use it (Adept).

From what I've gathered it seems like once you reach the Normandy you'll get all the guns and armor your character had in ME2.

On a side note all classes can use all weapons in ME3, so your Adept can use a Widow although it may not be the best fit for them.

Since Adepts are limited in the number of guns they can carry at the same time if you're carrying a Widow then you'll probably only be able to carry a single pistol or SMG to compliment it so you'll have to pick a single gun that can fill every role aside from sniping.

If I play as a soldier can i choose to carry less weapons than my loadout allows me to?( or do i have a mandatory gun for each slot?)

That's a good question.

Each weapon has weight ascribed to it now and each class has a certain amount of weight they can carry without incurring penalties. Adepts, Sentinels and Engineers can carry the least, Vanguards and Infiltrators can carry a bit more and Soldiers can carry the most.

I know that the other classes can choose which weapon classes they want to carry and which they don't and that you don't have to carry a heavy weapon if you don't want to.  Even Soldiers have a weight limit; but you can level up so that you can carry whatever you please regardless of weight so long as you have a slot for it.

But I'm not sure if you can voluntarily choose to carry less weapons then you're able to, there's no advantage to it; but you may still be able to do it.   The fact that a Soldier can opt not to carry a heavy weapon would seem to indicate that they could do the same with their other weapon slots; but the game may just assume that you'll want to fill as many weapon slots as you possibly can without incurring penalties.

You can run around with only a pistol if you choose to.

Go all Halo: CE on the Reapers, as long as their is a god-pistol to allow that.

Since this thread seems to get some dev attention, I'd like to ask a small question (haven't read every post so sorry if this has been asked before):
I read that we can unlock extra weapons and armor by playing the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo, due in a couple of days. These seemed rather dubious to me (namely the Chakram Thrower and the Reckoner Knight armor). Were these items designed by the ME3 team? How do they fit into the franchise in terms of optic and balance?
I want to play the demo anyway and extra items are always nice but I am not quite sure if I even want to install an item dlc if it breaks with the Mass Effect experience.

I'm not a dev; but I can handle this one.

The armor you get from the Amalur demo was designed by Tod Mcfarlane (the guy who created Spawn) and programmed by the ME3 team. If you don't like the look of the armor you don't have to wear it.

The Chakram Thrower was designed by the ME3 team and based off of a weapon in the Kingdom of Amalur game. In game the Chakram thrower functions like an assault rifle that fires explosive rounds much like the Falcon Assault Rifle.

In terms of balance the devs have stated that all the DLC is balanced so that it doesn't overpower the in game weapons and armors.

Here is a pic of the armor and the gun so you can decide if you like them or not.

Hey, cheers mate!

Hm, the weapon looks ok but the armor is very medieval-ish with all the ornaments IMO. Anyway, didn't see the pic before so thanks.

You just have to watch the trailer at the end of the demo to unlock the Chakram launcher.

Just download the demo and play the whole thing. Its character creation and 45 minutes of gameplay, then a trailer, I imagine.

After all that, you'll have your items.

Let me rephrase my last question, then.

In ME 2, an Adept can NOT get the Widow (only the training), so is the Widow possible to get in ME 3, or only if ported from 2.

I don't know if any forumite can answer that specifically, but I imagine every weapon from ME2, whether you had access to it or not, will carry over.

So if you want your ME3 Adept to use a Widow, Black Widow, Mamba, Jackie Chan or whatever the hell the weapon's names are, you are free and clear.

I'd like to know for sure too,

but I hope that my Adept cannot get the Widow, regardless of how much I'd like that. So in other words I hope at least the Claymore and Widow stay restricted to the Soldier, Infiltrator and Vanguard, because of what we get with the Lazarus project and how the weapons are described in-game.

And, I'm on the fence with the Revenant staying exclusive to the Soldier class, if Ash and Vega seem able to wield them without Shepard's level of cybernetics.

Honestly, I'd rather that NO guns be exclusive to any class.

Let us all run free with whatever we want. Its the last game of the franchise after all.

Let us go out with a literal BANG, BOOM, OH DEAR GOD SHEPARD WHAT ARE YOU DOING OH OH OH WTF LASER BEAM SPLOSHUUUUUUN KABOOOOM HEADSHOT fizzle fizzle /myverybestfrieeeeends.

Well, I'm basing my thoughts mostly on their in-game descriptions Claymore, Widow, Shepard's class specifics, and the various upgrades.

Dunno how Adepts, Sentinels and Engineers are supposed to deal with the weight and recoil from at least these two weapons.

Edit: but maybe there's a loophole afterall, after re-reading the Heavy Muscle Weave description.
I guess it's all in the penalties, we've heard about?
