Watching that vid I also noticed someone give a Shepard who was packing an assault rifle and a Sniper Rifle a command to equip an SMG.

Its possible that they were playing as an Infiltrator with an Assault Rifle; but I'm hoping this means that my Soldier can pack an SMG in place of his pistol.   The Scorpion pistol sounds cool; but a Tempest would compliment my Mattock much better.

What vid is that?

This one.

Watch it quick, they're pulling down these things right and left.   Bioware didn't want this one getting out yet.

Question: What does Weight do in ME3?

It determines how many and which weapons you can carry.

Each class has a limit to how much weight they can carry and if the weapons they have equipped exceed their weight limit then they'll have some sort of "penalty" applied to them.   What exactly this "penalty" is I don't know; but that was the word the devs used.

As you'd imagine the more combat focused classes can carry more weight, with Soldiers being able to carry the most with Vanguards and Infiltrators being able to carry a bit less and then Adepts, Engineers and Sentinels being able to carry the least.

I just noticed that Shepard is picking up the Sentry Interface which was a piece of DLC from the Dr. Pepper promotion in that pic.   Add that to the fact that the Mattock, Phalanx and Incisor have been shown in numerous screenshots and it appears confirmed that you can acquire ME2 DLC items in ME3 without having acquired them in ME2.

The penalty for carrying stuff above your weight capacity is a longer cooldown.

The less weight you have, the shorter the cooldown is.

The question is, do you need to purchase that DLC, or have it period, for it to become available to you.

Do you get a cooldown bonus if you come in under your weight capacity?

The fact that Shepard is picking up the Sentry Interface in the field and not just getting it handed to him in the Normandy Armory makes me suspect that you don't need to have the DLC in ME2.   I could be wrong; but it seems a reasonable assumption.

Don't think so. Probably just a shorter cooldown there too.

Aren't ALL the weapons dlc available whether you purchased them or not ?! What would make the Dr Pepper one different?

I can't recall where I read it or heard it but I do remember something about DLC, maybe it was twitter anyway I'll try to paraphrase off memory. "The DLC you aquired will be in mass effect 3, it's finding it thats the trick." This was awhile back so don't quote me on it. Whether that means only people who got it in ME2 or everyone can get it, not sure.

And I've figured that with how the Infiltrator's Time Dilation effect works, it's the closest approximation to a Sniper lining up a shot.

Yeah, sorry, my dyslexia kicking in, it's a kick in the quad most of the time, at least I got spell check. Small comforts, right? :?

So, I'm trying to say that the Infiltrator's Time Dilation effect when using a Sniper Rifle, from the class passive, is trying to mimic how training, reflexes and/or muscle memory kick in for the Infiltrator to be able to line up pin-point shots, like a Sniper, each time the Infiltrator takes a shot.

How else could that kind of shooting be implemented in gameplay, if that process is taking a matter of seconds?  Thus why I was saying muscle augmentation is used on the class like the Soldier and Vanguard, to assist  in being able to do that consistently.

I hope that makes more sense. But I gott run soon, work and all.

That's a pretty accurate paraphrase of the quote.

I just doubt that Bioware would be heavily featuring in game content that doesn't ship with the game thus leading me to the conclusion that all the ME2 DLC items we've seen so far will be in the main game.  I'm inclined to believe that all the ME2 DLC gear will be included in the main game in ME3 since Bioware was criticized for not having enough loot in ME2  they'll probably want to use all of the gear they've already designed in ME3.  At this point they're much more focused on selling ME3 than ME2 or ME2 DLC.

Agreed.

Perhaps anyone who bought those DLC items for ME2 can find them on the Normandy from the start, rather than need to find them on missions etc.

Or maybe not... :P

Definitely not a mistake.

When the weapon has overheated, it will produce those sounds and fire nothing but steam until you replace the heatsink with a new one. This works the same way as it did in ME2, just with better feedback as to what's happening.  It occured to me one night in a dream (not even joking) that the ME1 beeps should be there. When I put them in, it just felt... right... B)

@Someone With Mass: What can you tell us about the sniper rifle that Shep is carrying on his back for most of those GTTV vids? Is it the Valiant? It kinda look like like it could be built on the mattock platform. Or is the Valiant the one you get if you buy the CE? Do you have any new info on sniper rifles in general?
