OK, I think this is a topic which I think should be covered unless it already has been then please Mods go ahead and lock it down. However, I would like to talk about this specifically for a few reasons.

1. In ME 2 if you ordered certian games from certian retailers like Amazon or Gamestop you go certain kinds of DLC's which were awesome. Now I've already bought my copy of ME 3 collector's addition, but I'm willing to buy another copy for my friend and just keep the extra DLC if its from Gamestop or Best Buy.

2. Now granted I'm always up for extra goodies, but I don't want to waist my money if there is no special DLC for ME 3 from other retailers. I know last time they did coke points which I thought were awesome sense I loved some of the goodies we got from them.

3. What does the community think about certain special DLC from different retailers and coke points again for ME 3?

Oh and if someone already has information about this please send me a link so I can check it out. Holla!

pro
1extra goodies are always fun.
Con
1 I don't want to preorder 5 copies of the game just to get the full game.
2It sucks if you don't preorder the game and you see everyone eles in there awesome armor while you get stuck with ok armor.

Nah, I don't think it would be like that. I mean it would only be for single player. Multiplayer would be cool however if you get a collector's addition avatar gun. Like if I could use the N7 sniper rifle with my quarian solider. I think that would be pretty sweet.

I'll be selfish and say that it's bad when you'd like to get some retailer-specific item but can't do it since this retailer isn't available in your country. And the only Dr. Pepper you can get is in tin and dated 2008.

Well, buying from Ebay is an option, but having an option to get item not from 3rd party but as normal DLC would be better.

I hope not. Pre-order DLC is pushing things for me, retailer specific pre-order DLC is annoying as all get the **** out.

This.
Reatiler exclusive DLC is another way of saying "We cant compete with our competitors in terms of price, or customer service, so we'll do this crap instead".

I dislike retailer exclusive DLC. I wish the industry had never come up with the idea.

Just to point out, it's already been confirmed that there won't be any Dr. Pepper promo this time. Also, as of right now, there are no retailer exclusive DLC. That could change, but as of no, there is none. Both of those where confirmed by Chris in other threads, which seem to be hiding from me at the moment. If anyone has a link, feel free to post it.

As for my personal opinion, I'm okay with it as long as it is all released later for anyone who wants it, such as Rockstar did with L.A. Noire. However, I would say that this a an except that proves the rule, as I cannot thing of any other game that did so. Especially DLC from a certain retailer that loves to thrown around the exclusives. (I'm looking at you Gamestop.)

Priestly said in another thread that the particulars on exclusives get worked out closer to launch, so we'll see what happens.

I stand corrected then. Those are all newer games that I haven't played yet. I wonder what caused Gamestop to give up there "It's ours, only ours, and ours forever" policy. The way I understood it, Gamestop would only do retailer DLC if it was exclusive to them. Forever. That's why, I was led to believe, that the Terminus armor and gun were never released (outside of PS3), even though many fans would still gladly pay to have them. Not to get off topic, but did Gamestop change it's policy or did publisers finally tell them that they weren't actually a special little snowflake and that they had to play nice with everyone else?

At most we probably see armor, or a wepons upgrade. Nothing that can't go without.

I suppose it's too much to hope for that retailers might try to encourage purchases within their stores through competitive pricing rather than this tiresome 'lol, free rifle' nonsense.

No, that'd require Gamestop to be a nice and fair company.

Eh, I don't care about exclusives. These days, the game studios end up releasing them several months or so to everyone else; well, most of them do. I only pre-order from Gamestop because it's closer to where I live. The only time I wanted something else from another store was from Best Buy for GoW3. Luckily, I have a good friend who per-ordered it and gave me the code.

It's a shame though about the Dr. Pepper codes this time. Maybe it'll be another company who does it then? We'll see I guess.

That Dr. Pepper code prizes pee'd me off a lot, especially as Dr.Pepper isn't all that common in Australia and the fact it tastes like crap(opinon of course). I really can't stand retailer exclusive dlc, it just strikes me as a cash grab(which it is) that end up hurting fans"
