Completing a part of the campaign or catching a silly Batarang - that is retarded. Many games do this. Why be rewarded for completing an obligatory task in the main story?

Winning ten matches in a row online in SSF4 - that's a goddamn achievement. Beating all 30 waves in TW2 - you have balls of steel ( except Ringo who has ovaries of steel). Beating Hard Reset on insane - you are a f*cking prophet of destruction.

Online achievments aren't that bad, you just have to complete them within a month of the game coming out, after that they are a ****.

The worst and most annoying achievment is beating the Ethreal Queen on Ininfity in the game Infinite Undiscovery. My sister got me hooked to the game. I take on any challenge and don't quit. Yes I am still working on the achievement.

Multiplayer/Online achievements: Not everyone plays those modes. It's especially bad when you cannot play said game online anymore.

Oh god, I loved getting those achievements. Same goes for Rocket Man in HL2 Ep 2, for which you had to take a random garden gnome you found at the beginning of the game with you until you reached the final level. Screw the Companion Cube, my loyaly lies with the Companion Gnome and him alone.

Right down a list of things to do in a game add some challenges and mark them off as you go.
There you have achievements.  Am I the only one seeing this way?  Their all lame why should one be any more different then the other?
Its come to a point where its isn't about having fun playing a game its about telling everyone you played the game.

I guess any OCD rinse and repeat type achievements are what bugs me the most. Killing the first boss in Demon's souls without dying? THATS an achievement! Collecting 1000 conch shells, not so much.

Let's see:

I hate multiplayer achievements (I don't play multiplayer unless I know the other players personally).
I hate luck based achievements (Space Ponies? Really?).
I hate achievements that you unlock for doing basic things like completing the tutorial.
I hate secret achievements.

Those are the big ones.  There are others on an individual basis, but those are the categories that they usually fall into.

Agreed Secret Achievements are the worse. I can understand if a secret achievement is tied to the story, but not when the achievement makes you do some ridiculous thing that you wouldn't have know about previously, unless you are frequently on the internet looking up achievements

All of them. I'm not fond of the concept. All achievements can be broken down to pointless ego stroking trophies or cheap padding. I'll compulsively shoot for them if I *really* like a game, but I wouldn't mind seeing them go away forever. :P

They were enjoyable until I had to keep trying again and again because my friends failed and still getting nothing in the end.

I don't like achievements. But, if a game has to have achievements, like DA3 for example, 'Don't reload the game to reverse a decision.' would actually be a good one to force people to role-play imo. Or their could be an achievement for not breaking your character's values, though that requires that the game know from the start what they are, and that assumes they never change. Still, would be funny.

Achievements where if you miss it once, you can never go back and get it without loading up a previous save or playing through the game again.

**** you, Vault-Boy Bobblehead in Raven Rock.

The "Valkyrie" achievement in Xmen Destiny is an odd one. When I first saw it I thought "you get an achievement for sucking?" (Dieing 100 times) but then I noticed it gave you 0 points. I guess that is their way of publicly mocking you for being THAT bad lol.

- Pretty much all DOAX2 Achievements.

Its more fun that way. Then again most things are more fun than Mako.

L60 isn't bad, you just need to play the game multiple times with the same character, and it's a lot more fun the second time around when you can fire your gun properly on Eden Prime anyway.

Mine:
* Collection quests.  Worst offender so far... collecting feathers in AC2.  Just pointless.  At least do what ME did and give us a buffer (put 120 feathers out there so we can miss a few and still get the achivement.)
* Secret achievements that stay "secret" even after you've completed the game.  I can understand spoilers, but once I finish I'd like to know what those other quests were.
* Pointless grinding achievements.  'nuff said.

Several of the trophies/achievements from FF XIII.

Exorcist - Kill all 7 undying marks (even fully leveled, Vercingetorix was stupidly hard to kill)
Adament Will - Kill a Long Gui
Masters Seal- Fully develop all characters (lots of grinding)
Treasure Hunter- Collect all items available in the game (over 100)
Ultimate Hero(ps3 only) collect all other trophies (annoying because of said previous)

Seriously, Seriously 2.0 and Seriously 3.0 from the Gears of War games are all stupid. They all require too much effort for what they're worth. The other thing that is stupid but isn't an achievement is unlocking Chairman Prescott in Gears of War 3. It requires people to play 1800 matches, it wouldn't be so if I didn't want Chairman Prescott so badly.
