 Hello

Sorry for not saying much on the title but i want to avoide to accidentaly spoil some one else.

If you have play Mass Effect 2, you know that nearly on the end of the game the collectors kidnap the crew, leaving the Normandy almost empty. The more you delay on passing through the Omega 4 relay the less crew members you will rescue.

This event happend automaticly, my question and doubt is; Does this mission turn on when you destroy the Reaper on the fail star, or does it activate when you help Legion?

I wanna bring Legion next time I play to Talis helping mission(if you have done this please dont say anything related to what happend if you bring Legion) but I wander if collecters will attack the Normandy before I help Tali and Legion.

Thank you very much.

It activates when you enter the galaxy map (if I remember correctly) after you finish the IFF mission.

You can delay it until after Legion's loyalty mission, if you head down to the AI core, without activating the galaxy map. It will however activate after that mission. You can take Legion on Tali's loyalty mission, if you delay it until after the suicide mission, or you edit a save to get Legion early.  Though it looks like that last might be a litte more difficult for you since you're on the 360.

Thank you for the ideas Grey Ranger, the idea is good, how ever bringing Tali Zora to the suicide mission with out helping her make her chances of survive decrees.
Will see what i do.

To Paladin, I know that, i was saying when that happend, not what it activate it specifically.

I've managed to leave Tali's loyalty mission until after getting Legion and have had time to do both Legion's and Tali's mission before the crew gets kidnapped.

Did you do both of them right after the mission on the damage Reaper?

Thank you.

Yes, and they were the only two missions I had remaining (so at the time I went onto the Reaper I only had Tali's, and gained Legion's once I'd picked him up). Straight after doing both missions the crew were kidnapped. I don't know whether this is guarenteed to happen.

I will try that why Reorte, I appreciate your input.

Just for quriosity and to be more precise, did you help Legion firtst or Tali Zora?

Just a note: The abduction will happen 1-2 missions after the IFF if you have completed all other main missions, but can take longer if you go early as soon as it is available. There is a hidden formula that determines when it fires, but I don't know who if any figured it out. If you have done all other missions except Tali and Legions you can do both after the IFF, if you talk to them as much as you can after the IFF. I believe you will have to do Tali's first then Legion after that.

I'm afraid that I can't remember. I probably did Tali first since I was just holding off doing her mission anyway in order to see what happens when you bring Legion along, and once I had him there was no point in delaying that any longer.

Looks like the logic path to follow, and so I will. Formula seems interesting but I believe i will go with the other option, has soon has i finish IFF mission first help Tali with Legion and then help Legion.

Thanks to every one for participating on the post.

I ran the SM survival calculator (found there: http://social.biowar...index/4825495/1 ), and according to it, even if Tali and Legion aren't loyal, but everyone else is, it's possible to do SM without any losses. Just don't give Tali or Legion any crucial tasks, and leave all 3 best defenders (Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed) to hold the line (I chose loyal Kasumi to escort the crew back in it, btw, but that's because I play with Mordin in my default squad - he otherwise is best sent back as an escort, I think). When I chose Grunt as one of my squad for the final fight, it gave me the result of Tali dying holding the line, so it's best to leave all 3 of them behind, if you leave any loyalty missions to be done later, in order to save everyone.

Edit: Ran it again: if you get Tali loyal, but not Legion, you can take one of those 3 (Grunt, Garrus, Zaeed) with you for the final fight, provided everyone else is loyal, and still have everyone survive. (assuming you send Mordin as an escort, at least, then)

Edit 2: And again, Kasumi as escort worked fine, too. (also with Tali loyal, but not Legion)

Please keep in mind though, that the data come from that calculator, not the actual game, so I can't guarantee their accuracy.

Thanks for the intel Demoneq, I didnt know that it was better to keep the good figthers for the defence force.
Last time I play i keep the collector base, all team was loyal but i bring Grunt and Zaed with me and so i lost Mordin.

I will have it in mind, but i prefer to help them before going thrue Omega 4 relay.

Again, thank you for the usefull post.

As far as I know, if everyone is loyal, two of the three best defenders left behind to hold the line will do the trick (it worked on my previous playthrough, though I sent Mordin back as an escort, picking Grunt and Samara for my final fight squad).

The reason you lost Mordin is, that he's the weakest defender and/or least experienced at normal frontline combat - after all, he's old, and he was a special forces agent, not a frontline soldier - for that reason game kills him first, if your overall defense is too low. (assuming everyone is loyal, as non-loyals tend to die before loyals)

And yeah, I intend to help Tali and Legion too, but if the crew will get captured, before I have time to do it, I intend to save everyone, hence the above calculations.

I might have Zaeed end up not loyal though, since I intend to save the people in the refinery, and my Shep is something of a mix of Paragon and Renegade, so I might have the bars too low to get his loyals by the end of the mission - thus I may need to do some more tweaking to have everyone survive, maybe even sacrificing Zaeed by taking him to the final fight (I disliked him anyway, since his acts during his loyalty mission), or leaving him to die by the end of his mission. (heard you can do that?)
I can post the results here later, once I know how it works in practice, if anyone's interested. (will take some time yet though, before I actually go to pick Legion and stuff)

I will appreciate the intel you get from the final fight but in matters of helping Tali wiht Legion keep it to the basic of if you make it before crew kidnap etc, I havent see what happend when bringing Legion, so pleas dont say what happend when you bring him ;)

On the other hand, How do you know whos a good defender? by simple guess i assume good defenders are:

Zaed, Grunt, Garrus, samara, (maybe Jacob?)

Basically the ones wiht Soldier class features are the good defenders?

Thank you very much.

I think you can do 3 missions before the collectors come to kidnap your crew or until your whole squad is loyal. I believe the 3 mission count starts after you do the iff mission
