It seems as if the imminent release of ME-3 has stirred a bit of new interest among new forum members in this older sequel, but the requirements aren't being understood.

Be advised that there were slight confusing choices suggested in the Official Game Requirements, so these are cleaned up somewhat:

PC MINIMUM System Requirements
OS = Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor = 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
Memory = 1 GB RAM for Windows XP / 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Hard Drive = 15 GB
DVD ROM = 1x Speed
Sound Card = DirectX 9.0c compatible
Direct X = DirectX 9.0c August 2008 (included)
Input = Keyboard / Mouse
Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater(**); ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce G.205, G.210, 310, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9100, 9200, and 9300, also (probably) GT 520/610; ATI Radeon X1300, X1550, HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, 4550, and (probably) HD 5450/6370 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

(**)Two of the Geforce 6800s are worse than the next-lower Geforce game card, the 6600 GT, and should be avoided (6800 SE, 6800 XT).

INTEL'S GARBAGE (Graphics Chip) IS NOT SUPPORTED, as noted, by either EA or by a majority of the experienced game players who visit here and can answer some of your questions.

PC RECOMMENDED System Requirements
Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
2.6+ GHz Cure 2 Duo Intel or equivalent AMD CPU
2 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, or better, recommended
100% DirectX compatible sound card and drivers
DirectX August 2008
NOTES: For the best results, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video and audio cards. Laptop or mobile versions of the above supported video cards have not had extensive testing and may have driver or other performance issues. As such, they are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.  Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

There is a message thread with the subject "Can Your PC run this game" right here in this forum that you can verify component lists with.  Please do not waste your time, or our forum's space referring to the SR Labs' "Can You Run It" foolishness.  They are simply far too wrong, far too often.

If you think that your system is up to the task, and yet it's failing, you need to read and follow the directions in Pacifien's post, pinned on top of the forum ("Read First")

If you do not understand why your graphics solution is too poor for the game, there is a reference to the graphics cards here:

Having the latest GPU drivers are not always the best thing to have

Cause if you testing Beta drivers , be prepared to have some issues and so on , it doesn't have to happen but just saying
A good post is good ^_^

Agreed, and with nVIDIA, at least since June, 2009, it's been a tossup for the older 6n00, 7n00, 8n00 cards whether or not a latest driver would "break" this game, to the extent, that we recommend sticking with the 258.xx drivers for newer cards, and 197.xx for older ones.

It's the time of year when new games are being played, and old games are discounted. If you have a new laptop and a new copy of ME-2, they may not have been made for each other. ME-2 requires a real, actual circuit board for graphics be added to the PC, and something on the order of 99% of those being sold have none in them. Luckily, if you have one with AMD's new APU, it's different from an Intel CPU. It has usable onboard graphics.

Netbooks and other mini-PCs similar to them, including Tablets, do not have the high-end AMD APUs, instead may only have Intel's and nVIDIA's lesser quality graphics.

This is pertinent again, already.  There is no support for Intel Tinker Toy video, and it is my personal opinion that we do not need to devalue our game by catering to the crowd that doesn't care about PC Gaming enough to get the correct hardware that is specified.

If I thought it would really help to have it as a sticky, I'd have campaigned to have this pinned on top (or its predecessor I lost track of). I'm afraid this and most stickies are destined for after the fact confirmation. New arrivals all seem to insist on wearing blinders and stumbling around in here running into the walls and furniture, instead of taking advantage of the resources.

Ten months ago, nearly everyone left the social site, leaving very few experienced gamers still dropping in from time to time.  Only Off Topic and the ME3 forums ever built back up after that.  All Social Site Tech forums are strictly gamer to gamer self-help places, and there just isn't anyone coming around any more.  The FAQs and the Archives are going to have to suffice.

Official support is on the EA Help site.

The annual ebb of forum activity is right around the corner, and what few readers have been available to try to answer will head outdoors again, not returning until October. Do not forget that this was strictly gamer to gamer self-help here, with no conduit into EA's official support functions. The fall, 2011 renewal of activity was actually quite minimal, and the FAQ that Kloreep prepared is a primary reference, since there just aren't that many of us left who can cover everything that he did before he left (and this summer, there will be still fewer).

Don't skip past that summary.

Intel's Ivy Bridge is still not sufficiently improved over Sandy Bridge to qualify as game-capable.  It's still just another wannabe, once again.
