I'm able to set the sun direction in the level properties, and the sky is noticebly brighter in that direction, but I don't see an actual sun disc. Am I not doing something right? I suppose I'm channeling Akhenaten, with my obsession with the sun disc, but that wouldn't be the first time

Scroll far out and you should see it in the bottom left corner (it's a small circle like a starting point). You can move it around to change the sun direction.

Mine is always in the lower left corner, no matter where I'm zoomed out (or in) when editing the sun.

he is saying that the sun (big burning ball of fire in the sky) is not there when you look in that direction. There is only more light.... I have not even paid attention to that maybe i should go and look how it is for me...

Never payed attention to that myself. I'll check to see if I can see it in the main campaign and my test levels.

Change "Moon alpha" to a proper value, by default is 0.0 so no sun/moon with that

That gets me a moon with shadows and craters on it. Is there a toggle somewhere that makes it use a sun texture as opposed to a moon one?

i have a sun, maybe you need to change the skydome model to day?

Lo and behold. So much for the "newlayout" skydome. Thanks, from one Q to another.

Yeah, that advice in the wiki about only using sb_newlayout... baaad advice.
Someone should probably change that.
