If you think about it, the only good way to avoid it is to use something hinted at or introduced in the first two games, especially when you consider that the Reapers are supposed to be individually capable of engaging entire fleets by themselves--and winning.

So a superweapon of some kind (or some achillies heel that was hinted at in ME1/2) is the only option.

I sincerely hope that it won't be something entirely new to ME3, because it kind of renders ME2 pointless and just feels like being cheated. ME1 and ME2 repeatedly established the Reapers as being far too strong for even a united galaxy to defeat (otherwise, some kind of defense would have been at least hinted at, right?), so ME3's plot just feels a lot more like "find a superweapon out of nowhere" than a culmination of your efforts in ME1 and ME2.

LotSB had a few hints about more Prothean artifacts.

Someone, do we ever know what the silver sphere is? Is that a secret weapon?..that's kind of my guess.

Well it doesn't seem that complicated. Reapers have already proven vulnerable once their barriers are down. Just find a way to nullify that and you have a fighting chance at victory.

Of course that is easier said and done and I am sure the reapers have faced similar threats before.

Which silver sphere? There are quite a few of them at this point. One is hovering above Shepard's coffee table. :P

1.) Capture Collector base

2.) Study Collector base

3.) Develop weapons specially engineered for fighting Reapers

4) Find weaknesses in Reaper designs you can exploit to your advantage (if any)

5.) Still lose.

And about Prothys themselves, lets hope Shadow Brokers assumptions were true.

OP clearly hasn't read the plot leak that happened a while ago.

Deus Ex Machima victory confirmed.

Well, a super weapon and all that you mentioned OP is kinda a Deus Ex Machina in it's own. BW really has to figure out something really new to be able to avoid a Deus Ex Machina. But I've heard from the readers of the leaked script that that's kinda where we're going.

Not really. The Deus Ex Machina found in ME3 will be used regardless. but HOW you use it is up to the player. ;)

I only know few endings fro ma friend who has read the script. There is one that I mostly like. I'll definetly keep pushing for that. I hope you remember what one of quarian admirals said before we go to recapture Alorei  Damn, we need to watch out if we dont want to get banned for spoilers

For some reason I thought the one on the random planet in ME1 was the same as the one on my coffee table. Either one though, are they used for something?

"Message in a bottle" ending FTW!
_________

I'd say:

1) find more about races which attempted to fight Reapers before (Klendagon weapon)

2) shake whoever studied remains of Sovereign for info (turians which developed Thanix, it's reasonable to believe that Council and Shadow broker did something)

3) find out what info was extracted from that "ship" on Dis

4) study the data from Collectors base

5) blow all mass relays (together with systems Reapers reached) to win time. Goodbye, Earth. Possibly some percentage of Reapers will be destroyed in process

6) build superweapon

7) equip "suicide squads" with such weapons: surprise attack - destroyed Reaper - got blown to pieces

8) repeat during couple of centuries

I'm not sure. Seems that they're just storing information.

I can sum up the problem in one word:

Cerberus.

You can replace Cerberus with any organization you want and it won't matter.

Nope, because Cerberus is the one getting the base technology.

Even when taking their barriers down you would need to hit that magic area like the Normandy and multiple fighters did at the Battle of the Citadel. Remember Admiral Hackett order the entire fleet to fire on Sovereign when its shields were down. Even then its armor was holding. Normandy must have hit some weak point.

I think the Protheans had plan set up for us to possible use, I mean they didnt try putting themselves in stasis for nothing. When they knew they couldnt beat the Reapers they probably came up with a plan for the future galactic society to use based on their known knowledge on the Reaper tactics.

There's another hint in the planet descriptions.

If you read Rothla\\s entry in the planet decription, this might be the "super-weapon" that the Turians know about...

Keep telling yourself that.

At least Shepard is not attempting to control every race he can't understand or respect.

It'll be TIM's undoing one day.
