I recieved some Microsoft Points as a Christmas Eve gift, and I was flirting over whether or not to finally get the DA2 DLC. I got 1600 points, so it's not enough to buy everything, so I was wondering which Item Pack contains the better equipment for Hawke. I typically play as a Mage (sometimes a Rogue). Or would it be better to forgo the item packs and just get Legacy and MOTA?

The stats on the first set are better IMHO but the second set designs look a hell of a lot better IMHO. I have mixed feelings about them myself since they unbalance the game greatly. The best thing about them is that it makes it easier to save up your gold to buy those high powered items in the hidden market.

I think the story DLCs are a much better buy (you may want to wait to see if the XBox 12 days of Christmas promotion does not put them on sale first though). They also give you high powered items and armor that do not unbalance the game as much.

Yeah, the reason why I haven't done an impulse buy yet is because I was holding out to see whether the packs would go on sale next week. It actually happened around the same time with all the ME2 DLC last year.

I would also go for the story DLC's. More game time! More stuff! It's win-win.

Over on the Epic forums I saw a leaked list of the specifics of XBL's 12 days sales. No Bioware games were on the list. Sorry. :\\

That said, DAII and DAO were both on huge sales for PC two days ago. DAII was $5 and the entire DAO package (all DLC included) was $7.50. I picked them both up for my brother to try and force him to love Bioware with me.

Really makes me wish I had a gaming pc/laptop, because those steam sales makes me water at the mouth.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm going to hold out until News Years just in case, but if not, I'll probably get MOTA and Legacy since I prefer my Hawke to wear the Champion's Armor anyway. :P I'll have to get the Sebastian DLC at a later date.

i probably suggest both story as well, but if you can handle it you can also go with 1 story and item pack and enough to go with another class pack. or individually get a class pack from both item packs(story dlc added to each suggestion) i only got warrior pack 1 and Legacy and its hold out for me, aching to get MotA though but i purchased well before MotA came out

Both item packs have their good and bad.

With my archer rogue and mage, I preferred the item pack 1 weapons, but the item pack 2 armor.

Perhaps the best addition are the companion accessories. Some of them are nice and I wish Hawke could use them or something comparable.

I'd also prioritize Legacy+MotA over the item packs. While the item pack weapons are nice and level up with Hawke, the armor gets replaced eventually by the champion armor. The story dlc will extend the adventure around 5 hours, giving you more stuff to see, do and kill, beyond the main game.

The first item pack has the Fugitive's Mantle. It wins automatically.

Mage only pack for me, with one of the story dlc's.  Other two classes fail to keep me wanting to play the game after act 1, but thats just me. Found the all class pack, a bit of a waste.  It is priced better though, if you play multiple classes.

I plan to get the item pack sometime next week. I'm not a fan pf the warrior at all. I prefer mage so I'll probably end up getting Mage Pack 2  + Exiled Prince.

I'd do Rogue pack 2 (Arms of Mac Tir just look hot on a already good looking male rogue) and the stats are okay. Then get Legacy. For a mage especially I think it is the more interesting story. MOA is good too but, Legacy tells you more about Malcom.

For future reference incase anyone else bumps the thread, I have all the Story DLC packs and Item Pack 2. :P

I had 240msp left over and since I like the mage gameplay I went ahead and got Mage Pack 1 as well.
